What do you think of Monolith Soft and the Xenoblade games on Switch?

Ever since the big Nintendo Switch event all the way back in January 2017, Nintendo has made it clear that Xenoblade and its developer Monolith Soft are becoming a major pillar of the system’s library. Heck Monolith Soft have had active roles in Nintendo’s first party efforts ever since being acquired by them nearly 15 years ago, working on titles like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 2. Going in order of release, we have:

**[Xenoblade Chronicles 2](https://youtu.be/Xjpao-nD5YU):** After the lukewarm reception to Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U, Monolith Soft decided to go back to the narrative driven structure of the original game. Xenoblade 2 follows the story of Rex, a deep sea salvager, who comes into contact with a mysterious Blade named Pyra. Together they must travel around the world in search of a bountiful paradise known as Elysium. This game released in December 2017 and has since sold over 2 million copies. A DLC expansion pass was rolled out over the course of the next year, capping off with a prequel campaign known as [Torna: The Golden Country](https://youtu.be/wGMhS80qUAA).

**[Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition](https://youtu.be/tVfMySwUibQ):** Announced in the September 2019 Nintendo Direct, this is a fully remastered version of the original game, complete with revamped visuals, a re-recorded soundtrack, a bevy of quality of life improvements, and an entirely new epilogue scenario called [Future Connected](https://youtu.be/nXMIzVxdV7Q). This game released at the end of May 2020, right as the pandemic was forcing everyone into their homes with Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing New Horizons. Between this, FF7 Remake, and Persona 5 Royal, JRPG fans were eating good in early 2020.

People to this day are still clamoring for a Switch port of [Xenoblade Chronicles X](https://youtu.be/m_h80NRMm9A), and now [Xenoblade 3](https://youtu.be/Rt9pfN-2S0k) is coming at the end of July instead of September. What a hell of a turnaround from the pre-Operation Rainfall days where people had to fight for these games to get localized. I’d say it’s all worth the trade off of not getting a new Star Fox game lol.

Edit: Thanks for silver!
