In paper mario 64 one of the toads makes a comment about trying a fried mushrooms recipe…
The evidence seems to suggest that:
1) The mushroom caps are indeed a part of their head:
2) They do produce spores which can grow into mushrooms:
3) They bleed blood:
All this combined would suggest, not only that toads are at minimum fungi hybrid but also that the consumption of mushrooms for them would be akin to canabalism, or at the very least the equivalent of humans consuming primate. Anyone want to weigh in?
