0:00 – Vs. Will: Allister / EX Sidney / BP Morty
1:48 – Vs. Koga: EX Anniversary Raihan / Event Blue / Torchic
3:28 – Vs. Karen: EX Classic Elesa / EX Clemont / EX SC Jasmine
6:15 – Vs. Bruno: EX Bede / EX Giovanni / SC Lillie
7:58 – Vs. Lance: Red / EX Gladion / Tech Kangaskhan
Bede is the fifth unit that I’ve pulled who can dynamax, so I can finally do a CSMM run using dynamax units. I admit that I’m not nearly as well-versed on dynamax strategies as I ought to be as the only one I frequently use is Red’s G-Max Replenish for his trainer move, so this was also some good practice for me.
Here’s how each battle went, and the sync grids used:
Vs. Will: Allister / EX Sidney / BP Morty – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=013500035900&s0=3&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=13010602&t0=4444&g0=AAECAwQFBggLDQ4QJSkrLC0u&v1=025100009400&s1=2&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=41111&g1=AAECAwQFBggJCgsMDxESExwdHyMkJSY&v2=014800042900&s2=3&l2=140&r2=4&p2=0&a2=21010101&t2=44411&g2=AAECAwQFBggLDhMaHB4hJCYnKCot
I was at a loss with what I’d do with Allister – his most unique niche is AOE restrain, but the only ones that would appreciate that are EX Selene, who I haven’t promoted, and SS Serena, who I don’t have. I ended up going for Max Knuckle instead, as the +2 Attack completes Sidney’s buffs. That left the tank slot free for more defensive support, so I went with BP Morty for the flinches and type skill.
Vs. Koga: EX Anniversary Raihan / Event Blue / Torchic – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=002100005900&s0=5&l0=140&r0=4&p0=0&a0=13010602&t0=44444&g0=AAECAwQFBgcIERQWFxgdHiAjJSgr&v1=025701033000&s1=3&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=18046402&t1=44111&g1=AAECAwQFBgcICQsOEBgdIC4v&v2=0
In contrast, I was already pretty sure with what I’d do with Anni Raihan. Fire-weak Koga is one of the more annoying Johto CS stages, so I knew I wanted to take down that Ariados with Max Flare. Joining him is Event Blue, as he can do just fine without his sync thanks to Hyper Beam, which is further boosted by Anni Raihan’s SE Up Next, Special Moves Up Next, and sun, which he uses to one-shot one of the sides. Torchic completes the team’s buffs, and honestly I’m more surprised that it ended up not being KOed. As much as I wanted this to be three instances of OHKOs, I’ll accept a Max Flare + Hyper Beam combo.
Vs. Karen: EX Classic Elesa / EX Clemont / EX SC Jasmine – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=013100069500&s0=5&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=18046402&t0=44444&g0=AAECAwQFFRYXGBwfIiMmLi8&v1=010601058700&s1=3&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=21010101&t1=44111&g1=AAECAwQFERUWFxgaIyQlKCkqLA&v2=011301079700&s2=5&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=18046402&t2=44111&g2=AAECAwQFBggLDhATFhkmKSs
I maintain that Classic Elesa is one of the most underrated units in the game. Her sheer utility is great, and the advent of Gauntlet has only made her niche even more important. She enables an off-type clear here with Clemont, who she also des a double-OHKO with. SC Jasmine completes this team as Clemont needs a lot of offensive buffs, and her Sp Def debuffs help too.
Vs. Bruno: EX Bede / EX Giovanni / SC Lillie – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=014001015000&s0=5&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=13010602&t0=4411&g0=AAECAwQFBgkMDQ8QHyIrLg&v1=024600085800&s1=2&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=444&g1=AAECAwQFBgcKDQ8REhMUFRYXIw&v2=011803085500&s2=1&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=21010101&t2=4411&g2=AAECAwQFBgcICQoMERITFBobHB0eICUmJyg
Slightly similar to the sun Bede clear I did in his showcase video (https://youtu.be/b_1HBhck9Ho), except this time I set up his max move properly. Giovanni appreciates Bede’s Sp Def debuffs and Psychic Terrain. I needed a support that can top off Sp Atk and crit, and I’ve already used two of them in the previous rounds, so I ended up going with SC Lillie since I haven’t used her much. You could feel my surprise when that 30% Astonish flinch rate procced haha.
Vs. Lance: Red / EX Gladion / Tech Kangaskhan – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=011540&s0=1&l0=140&r0=1&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=44&n0=1&f0=0&v1=000000014300&s1=2&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=21010101&t1=44111&g1=AAECAwQFBgcJERMUFRcaHB4hIyUmJyg&v2=011900077300&s2=5&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=13016403&t2=44444&g2=AAECAwQFBggLDhAVGBklLi8
Ending it with a triple Normal team that I’ve used a lot of times, though one thing I do differently here was go for Max Knuckle on Red instead of G-Max Replenish to complete Gladion’s Attack buffs. It helped that I got an MPR proc for his trainer move, which made the decision easier. This was a bit annoying to get since there were a few runs where I was missing damage thresholds, but otherwise it’s a pretty straightforward clear.
