I used to have heavy nostalgia and love for Super Mario Sunshine (SMS) but once I picked it again and completed it, my nostalgai goggles were wiped right off my face and it’s rough edges became fairly present. Mario 3D Allstars Collection did not address its issues and only buffed its resolution. SMS’s physics, camera and level design are unpolished and FLUUD was Nintendo’s solution to patch it. SMS was a rushed game. It wasn’t until Odyssey that a tight character controller and camera system was applied to a 3D Mario title. I still like SMS but I would never bring myself to complete it ever again.
