0:00 – Wrong Fighting-type master pair: Cobalion / EX Wally / Darach
3:12 – Wrong zone: Lucas / EX Cyrus / EX Dawn
6:08 – Wrong Lucario: Korrina / Darach / Aaron
10:03 – Wrong master fair support: EX SS Kris / EX Barry / EX Dawn
This is a pretty annoying EBE since it has the combo of high HP and frequent AOE moves. Its saving grace is that it boosts two theme skills – Fighting and Sinnoh – which definitely broadens the possible teams we can use for the fight.
I wanted to do something similar to what I did for the Looker EBE (https://youtu.be/b9mIPysbGK0) and make a video about the “wrong” units in relation to SSA Cynthia, which is the No. 1 pick for this stage.
Here’s how each battle went, and the sync grids used:
Team 1: Cobalion / EX Wally / Darach – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=015900039800&s0=3&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=13010602&t0=44111&g0=AAECAwQFBhESFR0fICMkJSkqLQ&v1=900000063800&s1=3&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=21010101&t1=44&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDhESFRocHiEkJico&v2=012800047500&s2=5&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=13010602&t2=44444&g2=AAECAwQFFxocHR8gIiQoKy4v
Not too accessible because Cobalion’s at 3/5, and he definitely needs it for Endurance and Healthy Healing (and Rock Smash Ripple Effect though it didn’t activate much here haha). Best boy Wally does well in this stage of course, and he’s helped here by Darach, who’s able to provide Speed debuffs to activate Cakewalk. His Attack debuffs are also very helpful against Rhyperior, and Defog removes the Ground Zone at the start to relieve tanking pressure from Cobalion.
Team 2: Lucas / EX Cyrus / EX Dawn – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=019401048400&s0=5&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=13010602&t0=4411&g0=AAECAwQFBwoLDQ4RFBcaHTAxMjM0NQ&v1=016200048300&s1=3&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=11111&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDA0PEBUcHR4gIiM&v2=011600038900&s2=5&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=15010301&t2=44411&g2=AAECAwQFBggKDRAREhMVFhclKA
Dawn is a great tank against Rhyperior, but she has a harder time dealing with the sides’ special moves. She manages well enough here thanks to her trainer move, and she just needs to activate X Defense MPR to make sure that Lucas and Cyrus can tank the sync. Speaking of, the Sinnoh Dragon duo does a great job here, though I had to forego some damage for Cyrus to get First Aid 4. He gets sync priority for the AOE damage, while Lucas also gets to show off his sync in the end.
Team 3: Korrina / Darach / Aaron – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=015900039800&s0=3&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=13010602&t0=44111&g0=AAECAwQFBggLDQ4PFRgcHyE&v1=001200044800&s1=3&l1=140&r1=3&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=4111&g1=AAECAwQFERQVFxobHB8hIygrLi8&v2=015200041600&s2=4&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=21010101&t2=4411&g2=AAECAwQFBggLDhEUFxgmKSst
Definitely the hardest clear here, though it’s also the most accessible. Korrina is a bit harder to work with because of her frailty, but with enough support she’s able to output good damage with Close Combat. Darach returns for another bout, but this time he’s also dealing damage to help Korrina out. I got 4/5 Aaron from the Sinnoh tickets, and he needs at least 3/5 so that he has access to Attack Order Staggering 4. He then needs to land that flinch against the Probopass after enemy sync to prevent Discharge, as that will KO Korrina. After that, he has several free turns of no AOE moves, and if your damage rolls are cooperative then those should be enough to finish the stage.
(Getting Power Reserves from Korrina’s grid would’ve been helpful since she spends quite a lot of time in the pinch zone here.)
Team 4: EX SS Kris / EX Barry / EX Dawn – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=009900039500&s0=5&l0=140&r0=3&p0=0&a0=13010602&t0=44444&g0=AAECAwQFBgcKCwwODxwdICMnKi4&v1=001801024500&s1=1&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=21010101&t1=44111&g1=AAECAwQFBgcICQoMERITFBobHB0eICUmJyg&v2=011600038900&s2=5&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=15010301&t2=44411&g2=AAECAwQFBggKDRAREhMVFhclKA
I knew I wanted to use Barry, so I figured I’d bring SS Kris along to bump up his sync damage, with Dawn completing the team with her Defense buffs and Attack debuffs to soften up Rhyperior’s blows. It felt unintuitive to use Rain Dance right before Tyranitar used Surf, but I found the +4 Sp Def to be more important, and since Kris was able to survive it anyway I figured I’d roll with it. If I had Kris at 2/5 I would’ve gotten Endurance so that she could live the Surf and cast Rain Dance afterwards, but eh.
