I will play it, really unsure if I will like it. Something about sonic and a big open world feels…off.

    I don’t quite like how… hack’n-slashly the combat looks.

I don’t normally dislike hack and slash games, but I have a feeling it might not fit Sonic (nevermind being in open world…), since it might interrupt the momentum/gameplay flow.

I guess it’ll depend on how common enemies with loads of HP will be, so I’ll have to wait to play to be sure.

The hack n slash reminds me of what they did with the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed, it’s just faster and prettier animations. Looks like it’ll have more depth too.

Imo, this is going to be fun.

Am I tripping or did I see some platforms and enemies just spawn in?

Feel like this is a type of game where you either will enjoy it or hate it

In some instances it looks good, in others really god damn janky.

Lets hope for the best…as always.

My hopes for this game are a roller coaster.

it’s weird, this game looks like it’s trying to be BOTW/Genshin Impact and Bayonetta with combining parry/dodges with combo moves

but we’ll see how it feels on controller

When is Sega going to learn that we all just want to play as Knuckles?!?

  10. Played the demo at PAX Aus. I can say running around and the general platforming did feel pretty good, and encouraged going fast as it should. But the combat was not really anything to write home about, at least from what we had access to the in the demo. Enemies just took multiple attacks from the same button to defeat instead of the usual one-hit-kill a Sonic game has, the enemies felt slow and very easy to telegraph, and the homing attack, the on ground punches/kicks and the line-drawing attacks all felt really sluggish. I can see this game being a very mixed bag from my brief experience with it, and I gotta hope that the skill tree/upgrades really improve the feel of Sonic’s moves.

I just don’t understand the direction they keep trying to go with sonic…
Like why all ‘real world’ and dramatic? In the OG genesis games it was goofy and fun and animated! Dr robotnik was such a nerd and he made all these cool insane but fucking stupid robots so he could have some crystals. Sonic ran around and popped some robots on the head and did his thing.
It could have been like Mario or Crash Bandicoot, but they’re going all Xenoblade Sonicles

Why do I want to play Sonic Battle all of sudden?

The Cycloop attack really makes this look and feel like a mobile game. Drawing a circle around your enemy or a POI is like, the current standard for engaging interaction on mobile games.
