My wife and I live in a smaller town and we have a gym right near us, but we never have anywhere near enough people to do 5-star Raids that are 40,000+CP….
To our surprise – Guzzlord showed up near us as 5-star with only 26,000 CP and we were able to beat him with just us two. This is our first 5-star raid, and we can’t express how much we approve of 5-star raids being doable by people not in major cities. We’ve watched countless cool 5-star pokemon come and go that we want to have in our collections, but they are impossible for us to do.
This has been the first time since starting PGO that we’ve been excited to play because the cool 5-star pokemon was obtainable…we both FULLY endorse this new method where everyone can enjoy the major event pokemon not just places that can afford 20+ raiders in 1 spot.

I’ve done it with a single Togekiss at Level 43, three Gardevoirs (Levels 36, 32.5, and 28.5), a shadow Dragonite at Level 44, and a shadow Mamoswine at Level 37.5. I had to Max Revive them all halfway through

I did it just recently with 5 people. 3 from my Go! friends list. Far as I know everybody got it. I got a decent one. Hopefully my Go! Friends got a hundo one like my 2nd cousin did.

They didn’t do it on purpose to be nice or anything… It’s just a product of x4 weakness. A lot of raid mods with x4 weaknesses can be beaten by far fewer players that usual

I solo’s one last night. Was going to do it with my 2 sons but one of their phones was flat. So one use his account on my phone with his brother.
I then logged back in as me and did a solo. Had 72seconds to spare. Using Shdow Gardevoir, Gardevoir, 2 Togekiss, Sylveon and another Gardevoir.
The shadow and Sylveon were the only lvl50s. The rest 35-40. Guzzlord was also weather boosted, though I did do it in person and had home gym advantage.

I’ve only done two so far. If Guzzlord has poison moves your counters last way longer and you can avoid relobbying. If it has other moves then you’re going to need to relobby.

Pff, 6 raids, 3 ran away (golden razz and excellent throws), 2 had 2 starts, luckily one 3 star. But yeah, nice that it’s doable with less players.

Actually, most can be duoed, if you’ve got good counters.
Guzzlord can be soloed with good counters. I did it with a lvl 40 togekiss, lvl 40 sylveon, and then mixed levels of 2 gardevoirs and a zacian, all fairy movesets (snarl on zacian bc it doesn’t have charm). No weather boost on either end. About 25s left, but still, soloed.

As far as I can recall, this is the first time that a 5-star raid boss (Guzzlord) is more easy to beat than a 4-star raid boss (Mega gyarados)

Other easy to duo raids include:
Moltres, Kartana, Genesect, A-Deoxys
I’ve also been able to duo I think all of the Mega bosses since their revamp.
This can be achieved with teams of lvl 30-35 pokemon if you make calculated choices with what you battle with, including mega bonuses for same type attackers.

I doubt Niantic made a concious choice here. It’s just what happens in their copy paste raid system when a legendary has very low defence and a double weakness.

Uhm mega scizor and genesect counted as 5star raids and were easily doable with 2 people. And even 1 person. Go watch youtube
