The game doesn’t look bad. The art style isn’t bad either. But these two combined surely will lump this game alongside recent/current popular mobile gacha games like Genshin and Tower of Fantasy
I wonder if this game will lose some sales due to the main character design alone. I can’t get past the awful hair.
I miss older Fire Emblems on 3DS where I could at least make my MC look like early 30’s and a non anime teenbop hair style which helped go along with some of the more mature story lines a lot better then some young preteen BTS wannabe. I’m not a teenager anymore and I really don’t want to be forced to roleplay one

Probably a hot take but fire emblem’s art direction has been pretty terrible following the GameCube and GBA games. I miss blazing blade and sacred stones and path of radiance.

Three Houses had some classy character designs, which made it very appealing to a large audience imo. You know? Like, anime stuff but with restraint. The designs in this one are just way over the top.
I just want more stuff like Echoes and Awakening, loved those two.
Didn’t like Fates and 3H, not a lot of hope for this one either.

F!Alear’s color scheme still frustrates me but ever since I saw someone point it out, the fact that she has a necktie shoved between her boobs for some reason annoys me the most

It’s funny, I have no problem with Shez’s and Alear’s hair colors and actually kind of like their designs. Meanwhile, I hated F!Byleth’s design to the point where I can’t play Three Houses with her as a playable character and yet everyone seems to love it.
I don’t know, Alear designs are kinda dumb, but they’re not enough to make me unable to take the game’s story seriously.
To everyone hating the protagonist’s design:
Don’t worry. You’ll be loving it when the next game gets revealed

Finally I think I can put to words what so far I have not liked: those castle looks to much like DisneyWorld, wouldn’t be surprised if those are done with papier mache

honestly I dont really care about the protags hair (it is pretty out there but whatever), what I do think though is that the environments/textures look very….. pokemon sword and shield in the worst way possible LOL. I’m tired of the switch hardware holding back these games from just *looking* good.

3 houses looked so beautiful and artistically/stylistically cohesive. This feels like a step in the wrong direction, but I’m willing to give it a chance.
It’s weird how despite having over 400 hours in Three Houses and loving that game to death, I have absolutely no interest in Engage. Something about it just seems off to me.

Dunno if it’s just me, but I really don’t care for what any of the summons have to say. They’ve had their own games, had their own development. Can’t see them changing from start to finish of this game.
Said it before, saying it again: I really hope this isn’t intended as mainline title. Because I can see this dividing the fan base worse than even Awakening. It’s almost polar opposite to what Three Houses tried to be.

I realised recently that one of the things I miss the most about earlier Fire Emblem games is not having to walk around to do things. I loved the battle menu systems that was the norm up until Fates.
I hate this games art direction
