I mean, given the last line in the ending, it seemed pretty clear there were plans for it.

I’m curious to see where it goes, and despite what everyone else thinks, I really don’t think we’ve seen the last of Cereza.

Ending isn’t controversial simply because it didn’t match your headcannon…

  3. Stan_Golem

Let’s see. Considering how long it took to do 3, I’m not getting my hopes up.

  4. PsychoBalloons

In my opinion, they shouldn’t have even done Bayonetta 3. I’ve played the game and it’s not that good.

Don’t understand the controversy. Allegedly you play as a different Bayonetta in each game already so there is no reason for Bayonetta 4 to not have another flirty black-haired woman in glasses. And yes, I finished 3 but I’m keeping things vague.

Man the story was actually dogshit. Like whoever wrote this game should actually be fired. This is literally the worse bayonetta game

I haven’t played it, what happens at the end

  8. GriffinFlash

Wait, what controversial ending? That seems like a big detail to spoil in the title.

  9. Lolobeatboxjams

In my opinion they want to keep making money so yes

Can someone explain the ending and why it’s controversial to me? I’m playing through Bayonetta 1, and while the world is interesting and has a lot of style, it doesn’t exactly have a good story either as far as I can tell.

Soooo there’s a few things this article is assuming.

First, Kamiya is talking about Bayonetta 4, but has never said it’s in development. He’s only said he has ideas for it and where he wants to take the franchise.

Second, we don’t know if this is coming or not until SEGA finds a publisher. Nintendo may not want to continue with Bayonetta after another underperformance, and with all the controversy surrounding this title (from the VA, the actual game, and now Kamiya showing his ass on Twitter) I’d say 4 is less likely than not.

Bayo 3 was amazing imo but for me 2 is better. Better graphics, more charm, better gameplay and slightly better story. Don’t get me wrong, the 3 games have trash stories but bayo 3 officially made me sick about the “multiverse” concept that I don’t want to hear that word again for a long time.

  13. 3 was the worst of the series. Hope they don’t keep that trend going

  14. Mr_Phishfood

Don’t have much hope for this series anymore. Ignoring the story altogether it still fails to live up to past games.

Playing as Viola was so painful, and those monster riding sections are straight up BS to pure platinum. The rhythm game section was also poorly done. The developers clearly had their B team working on this or most of the real talent behind 1 and 2 have moved on.

I loved Bayo 1 and 2, I tried 3 and just couldn’t stand it. It felt like a cheap Bayonetta clone to me.

  16. TezetaLaventia

Oh god no, I honestly did not like playing as Viola. A whole game with her sounds like a drag. Now if we play as Bayonetta breaking out of hell, that’d be a whole other story…

  17. Alucard624

Jesus Christ man, can you not put spoilers in the title.

I don’t think anyone who actually played Bayo 3 thinks that the series is over.

In fact, it was quite clear that Viola IS the new Bayo. My only concerns and worries is that…she just wasn’t fun to play.

DMC5 was my first game, and I was just going through it to get to the whacky bullshit that Dante can do, but I ENJOYED my time with Nero and V.

I genuinely was irritated that I had to play Viola because her moveset was gimped. Yeah, Cheshire is a mechanical analogue of Nightmare, but V didn’t lose moves calling while Nightmare was out.

And let me say, I actually like Viola as a character. I liked that she tried hard to look cool, and had the butt rock theme. But I also like Infinite from Sonic Forces, so take that for what you will.

Cereza was the most fun to play in this game. Demon Masquerade was an awesome idea, and Demon Summoning was an amazing ideas and implementation, even if it cost hand/feet combos.

I’m more upset at losing the gameplay of Cereza for the gameplay of Viola than I am the loss of the character. I like baton passes in media, but I don’t want to play Bayo 4 and be gimped the entire game.

I mean, aside from continuing with viola, there is both a really easy way to keep using “Cereza” by simple virtue of the multiverse, as well as the specific bayo 3 Cereza by simply having Viola go into Inferno to reclaim her soul, just like we did with Jeanne’s soul in 2

I havnt finished the game yet. I went to an island with the blue hair girl and fell in a portal

  21. isn’t it a series where random shit happens for random reasons?

as long as sone suit can calculate that a new instalment will make enough money, I’m sure they are going to make new versions of it.

  22. davidbrit2

Cool, I needed something to look forward to playing in 2034.

  23. I mean, the ending itself already hinted it’s not the “end.”

    >!First, because it literally says bayonetta will continue with the new generation.!<

    >!And two, the ending gave _so_ many outs if they want to bring our bayonetta back. Between her (and Luka) turning to light before being dragged into hell, and Rodin keeping in contact with Luka, the game hinted _very hard_ that while bayonetta may be “dead”, she’s not _gone_.!<

    >!Death is a suggestion in bayonetta. 2 literally brings two characters back from the dead (Jeanne via saving, and Balder through time shenanigans.)!<

It’ll be fine, finished it twice, and can confidently say it will be fine. 3 took very enjoyable risks, some with more kinks than others but fun nonetheless.

It will be fine. RIP Helana tho, can’t believe she suicided her career like this.
