When the new one came out for switch, I just immediately played the gameboy one over again on an emulator.

    You can’t build on perfection.

Such a good game, I have so much nostalgia for it. I loved replaying it on the switch. The songs, the trading sequence, the secret seashells. I used to have races on my game boy with classmates to see who could beat the first level the fastest. Good times.

Link’s Awakening is one of the best games ever made.

I still ship Link and Marin to this day. Also, learning the truth and watching the ending choked me up.

That reminds me — wasn’t there a manga, and in the manga, didn’t Link pretty much have a breakdown when he discovered the truth? I probably would have if it’d been me, especially knowing someone in the dream had a crush on me.

I almost bought the switch port so many times because I had never played it before but then the game & watch came out and it had the gameboy version so I immediately picked that up instead and it was a pretty great idea to be honest.

Switch remake is honestly an insult and piss in my eyes

I finished links awakening for the first time on the new Zelda game and watch and it was such a great game even today. Only gripe I have with it is some of the trading stuff took a lot of trial and error and had to read a guide to understand where to go next.

I actually like the original more than the remake. The remake botched Link’s movement, you can’t ‘slide’ around like you could in the original.
