Click on the power up button then hit the minus button once, that will tell you what it takes to max it out.

The first time you do it, it’s the initial 200 energy. But then you only have to spend energy if you do not wait the cool down period. At the base level, it’s 7 days. At level 2, it’s five days, at max level it’s 3 days

Its between 800 and 900 to do it in the least time possible.

Alongside all the other info in here, keep in mind that once you register a mega evolution in the pokedex, you can walk any pokemon in that evolutionary line as your buddy and get mega energy.

So if you end up missing some energy, you can just walk a Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert to get 15 energy every 3km.

Or just wait for the free mega evos every 7/5/3 days.

Above commenter is correct. I forgot about that.

200 as long as you wait for the cooldowns to be over

  7. 200 + 6×40 + 23 × 20 = 900 for those starting from 200.

Or 200 if you are willing to wait 165 days.

    EDIT: including cost drop after 24h, it will be rather 200 + 6 × 40 × (6/7) + 23 × 20 × (4/5) ≈ 773.

I recommend using energy for the first week of use. You only get credit for one per day, but by the end of the week you’re already stage 2 with reduced cool down and costs.
