Well, the 1993 one was 104 minutes, so less time for it to devolve into Dinohattan, right? right?

  2. ObsidianBlackbird666

For context, Aladdin is 90 minutes and The Little Mermaid is 83 minutes.

Dang will it be enough to dive into Bowser’s descend into insanity and Mario slowly losing his grip of reality as he loses yet another life?

  4. CptSoniChaos

I’m still trying to get over Mario’s voice. Give me time to heal

  5. Shmeediddy

All these big budget movies have warped my mind on how movies are now for run time

  6. Am I the only one disappointed by movies ever since we’ve grown accustomed to 10 hour Netflix adaptations? It’s like, “great, the Mario movie is 2 episodes….”

  7. Darragh_McG

It’s a kids movie, they really shouldn’t be longer than 90 mins

  8. Willie-Alb

Hallelujah, a beacon of hope in the midst of +150 minute wasteland

  9. Sussyimposter14

Good. I havent seen a movie in years that needed to be longer than 2 hours

That sounds perfect. It means it won’t overstay it’s welcome and possibly be leaving the audience wanting more for a sequel. I hate when movies become too bloated.

Awesome. Not every movie needs to be 2 hours and 45 minutes now

Probably paying homage to the popcorn classic Persona (1996) was also an 83 minute run time. This is sure to be a 5 bagger!

*If it’s not 3 hours, how are they going to fit all the Mushroom Kingdom lore into it without rushing? Typical cash grab that doesn’t respect the source material.*

  14. But with the speed run they can get it down to 83 mins.

  15. notAbratwurst

This is a fantastic run time.
Wakanda forever was almost 6 hours long.

  16. Sunlit_Neko

Thank goodness it’s not a 2-2.5 hour slog like other children’s movies.

  17. crankypizza

Knowing the runtime makes me think this is going to be a classic, they may want to add a few minutes for Oscar though.

  18. Does that include the post-credits scene revealing Donkey and Diddy Kong will be in the sequel?

  19. zardos66

The less I have to hear Chris Pratt’a awful Mario the better.

  20. It’s amazing how “85 minutes” sounds short but somehow “1 hour and 25 min” sounds long.

  21. MarcsterS

It seems short for how much may be in the movie(Bowser as a villain, Donkey Kong and Cranky, and then Brooklyn/Wrecking Crew stuff)

This movie is going to make bank. I’m guessing it’ll be the highest grossing animated film of the year. Perhaps of all time?

  23. When I first saw this, I was freaking out, until I realized that that’s how longs movies used to be when I was a kid

  24. socasual-nobusiness

I’m thankful to hear this. Sonic 2 was absolutely ruined by its unnecessary filler and length.

  25. romang39

I’d say the trailer basically covered 30 minutes already.

Either it’s all crammed in that time or it sets up for sequels.

1 lays the groundwork and the stretching plot
2 follows up and we see Wart?
3 has Koopalings and racoon mario and the long awaited bowser faceoff.

edit: for example, the sonic movie had to introduce so many things to the audience. Thats a lot of time but also Sonic wasn’t fully a 3D CGI movie. Mario looks to be lol.

  26. MeltedWaxLion

I honestly can’t wait to see this! many animated films are around this length.

  27. thehumanpopsicle

Release the 4 hour Miyamoto cut you cowards.

  28. Wubbzy-mon

Well, the movie may need a stability update

  29. TrainFanatic

Good. 90 minutes is all most movies need to be.
