I just watched that for about the millionth time recently and it brought a tear to my eye. The intro gave my heart palps.

If you think it’s shit, don’t watch it, but want a Zelda series, I think you need to reassess your decisions
If the new Mario movie is a huge success (and it will be), then yes, a Zelda film or tv project is inevitable. I’d personally want an animated tv series. Let each season be its own story about ‘the hero of time’. And only have tangential connections between seasons. Heck, even let a different animation studio be in charge of each season (ie – Wind Waker vs Twilight Princess level of distinction between each season).

I can’t imagine it working, if they did it as a live action show it would be hot garbage. Maybe an anime could work, but they would have to expand the lore quite a bit, the way Zelda works doesn’t really translate into what we would expect out of a show.
There have been attempts in the past. Nintendo has always been extremely critical and very controlling and they’ve fallen apart.
The fact that Mario is happening is frankly miraculous, but it seems poised to for middling reception at best due to the controversies and that will probably mean the end of any such partnerships in the minds of Nintendo execs.

It was in the works mid 2010s but got cancelled. No news since.
Im sure theyre thinking about it since they started Nintendo Pictures. Its a matter of getting a good idea of what they want out of it, and finding a studio or people that would be able to pull it off. I think theyre careful with the movies they are making now after the 1993 Mario movie, they seem to be pretty hands on with the new Mario movie.
They did make twilight princess comic books that would make a pretty cool anime my only concern would be how link would sound
The brand recognition between LoZ and LotR is several orders of magnitude. Legend of Zelda may seem huge to gamers but to the general public it would be like “Legend of Who?”
Wind Waker animated movie would work. Anything else would be a disaster, honestly.

Apparently they did have plans to make it into a Netflix series but I think ocarina of time to start with would be perfect and follow that story. In a live action epic scale movie ala Peter Jackson with like Harry Potter level of production design.
I don’t understand why they haven’t yet this thing partnered with universal since that’s the studio that is co owned with it, unless Nintendo pictures jumps around to diff studios I could see WB putting out a fantastic Zelda movie, or universal themselves or even apple you just need the right people but done well this thing would make so much money, you have Nintendo fans , fantasy fans , people who are Zelda fans , good word of mouth , a Zelda movie should be fun like Star Wars not to dark like game of thrones but have some dark moments it could be a massive hit done in the right way imo. And there’s so many games to pull movies from Ocarina of time live action. 2 parter. Then there’s Windwaker for an animated romp , then there’s Twilight princess for another epic , Zelda is the way to go done right it would print money. He’s also such a known character.
