I legit can’t tell if this is satire.
It doesn’t look that bad.

Okay, pity me. Go ahead.

Won’t play it as not my type of game, but boy that article was straight out of a 2002 Xbox fan boy blog. Definitely thought we were past that!

I pity anybody that takes your whining seriously.

I’m quite used to such folks pitying my finally complete playthroughs of or dozens to hundreds of hours and fu memories amassed in such games on Switch, neither of which experiences would have been easily or, in most cases, remotely achievable on powerful but strictly home-based hardware. LA Noire, The Outer Worlds, Immortals, Burnout Paradise, Assassin’s Creed games… Too bad I can’t relate to the graphics “looking like the screen smeared all over with vaseline”, possibly because my imagination doesn’t have any personal practice of smearing vaseline over my consumer electronics to fall back on. But I still salute tabloids and their authors for straightening the industry with professional, eloquent and constructive feedback like:
> On Switch, Sonic’s pants haven’t just fallen down; they’ve been mangled and haphazardly thrown back on the hedgehog. This is the same core experience, but it’s so pared back even Tiger Woods in his prime would struggle to birdie.

K mate, just remind you that a lot of us are casual players and some only have a switch

>”….but I do wonder what the line is for bringing games to the Switch – a handheld so far behind the times now that I’m constantly amazed it runs current games at all…”
I think this is a fair point, but also kind of a assholish one. I’ve watched comparison videos, and it doesn’t look quite as bad as what the article author makes it out to be, but there’s still some truth to this comment.
I love my Switch, I play it almost every day. But I didn’t buy it for 4k, 60FPS, highly textured games. I question the sanity of anyone who did. I save those games for my PS5/Xbox. If this is your only way to play Frontiers, I don’t think its the worst thing ever. But I think most Switch owners understand that it’ll get lesser ports of AAA games, and they’re mostly cool with it. Articles like this seem designed to stir up drama and hard feelings more than anything.

All I can hear is “Blast Processing”

It really isn’t as bad as everyone makes out… It also isn’t optimised fully on any console so it’s hardly a surprise it performs as it does on Switch. Patches are coming so hopefully we see some improvements.

Don’t let “journalists” tell you what to do.

I played it on my steam deck 😁

I’m guessing this guy didn’t grow up with game boy version of games, could be way worse brah

The game may not even be a looker on the switch, but this article isn’t a looker no matter the hardware you use to look at it.

SEGA should be optimizing their games for the platform they will sell best on. In Sonic’s case, that is the Switch.
Yeah, this is a clickbait post title for a pretty bad article. The game is completely playable on Switch and it isn’t as bad as this makes it out to be. But if anything, I pity SEGA for destroying any reputation they had by ensuring, time and time again it seems, that the largest portion of their customers plays the worst available version of their games.
Making stable Switch performance the priority for games that they know will sell best on it should not be this complicated. This is a SEGA problem, not a Switch problem.

I pity anyone who thinks telling me they pity me is a good way to get me to read their silly blog.

The game is very fun on switch and I didn’t notice performance issues. Obstacles appeared out of nowhere sort of like hinox do in botw but not really a big deal. This game is like botw meets ori will of the wisps. Won’t go down as one of my favorite switch games but still very fun.

Clickbait site asking me to turn off ad-blcoker , so I’m not goin gto click.

The Switch is due for a upgrade. And I meant not 4K 60 FPS bullshit just enough power to run games with a decent FPS. Newer games are showing how much the Switch is in dire need of a upgrade

If it wasn’t for products like the Switch and Steam Deck, I wouldn’t be beating my games faster than desktop or console.

I’m playing on Switch and enjoying it very much, even managed to S rank level 1-2.
One thing I wish they’d add is in-game achievements, kind of like Mario Odyssey has. Just port over the achievements from the other platforms but have it viewable and trackable in game.
cubechris
It’s fine to criticise a game if the performance is generally bad (see also: Pokemon) – but there seems to have been an uptick recently in blaming the Switch hardware as the source of performance issues, which is frankly baffling.
Yes it’s old hardware at this point, but games like Bayo 3, The Witcher, XE 3, and countless others prove you can get plenty out of this machine still.
space_cowboy80
The article has a point but is written with a snarky tone that is just to get a reaction from Nintendo owners. Had he been even handed and made the comparison fairly, he could have wrote an interesting article about the current state of Switch vs Current Gen but instead he went for clickbait and in doing so negated a large portion of people that he wanted to attract to it.

Ignore this “journalist”, this is the same guy who had this to say about Wolfe Glick playing Pokémon the other day.

Bought a switch a few weeks ago. I enjoy playing games, I’m enjoying the switch. If I wanted to watch expensive tech-demos I would sit in front of my PC.
