I own this and Village. So I can say from a consumer aspect, both cloud versions are amazing! I was a skeptical about cloud gaming, but I took a gamble with Village. Only RE game I haven’t played yet. 30+ hours on the switch, only disconnected once, and never dropped below the 4 bars more than 5 or so times. The actual version runs 1000x better than the performance demo. Game has the initial boot load, that last about 2 or 3 minutes, but after that there is no more loading. I’ve played it docked with a wired connection and handheld off WiFi, in completely different away further away from the router, and game always ran smoothly. Village constantly auto saves about every 2 or 3 minutes, so if you do disconnect, you don’t really lose much progress. Graphics are easily the best on the switch (cloud so duh lol) and looks like I’m playing a PS4 game. The audio always matched the action going on in the game, so their was never a delay that would hamper my gameplay. Dock and undocked the games visually looked and ran the same. I could go on but I was absolutely blown away with how excellent Village cloud works. BTW, I don’t even have the most expensive/best internet. After I was so pleased with Village on cloud, it was a no brainer to get RE2, and you know what….its even better than Village. Everything I mentioned before about Village is here in RE2 cloud and the performance and fidelity is 10x better than Villages. So once I’m down with RE2, I’ll be purchasing RE3 and VII as well! Definitely a new fan of cloud gaming services, if they are anything like Village and RE2 handling.

If cloud based gaming allowed the users to rent them (like blockbuster) then I’d give it ago. I’m not paying full price for something that’ll just disappear after a few years due to server costs and the companies abandon them 👍

I live in Appalachia cloud gaming will likely not be a good option for a very long time. If you live near the server farm have at it but just remember there those who don’t have that luxury and light only travels so fast

I don’t mind cloud games as I have a perfect network at home, but I will never buy them because of the sole fact that these rental versions are full price.

Then again, if I finish a game in a couple of weeks I’ll usually never touch it again, cloud, digital or physical.

I also tend to not resell physical, but never touch it again anyways.

Even if the infrastructure for internet was good here in the US as it is in other places it is still a hard no for the sole purpose that you will never own it digitally or physically so once its gone, its gone

Shame it’s only cloud – played this on Xbox and it’s seriously one of my all time favourites. Can’t wait for Res 4!

  7. I don’t mind playing it then eventually losing access to it b/c it will be ported to every system in the future but $50 for the experience is a no from me. It should be the same price as Gamepass to play it.

If it’s free, sure. Otherwise, why am I paying full price just to be able to access the game on your server? Silly.

I refuse to play anything in the cloud, even much less at full-price. So you take my 0% chance and make it smaller, essentially a -% chance. They would literally have to PAY ME to even consider playing it.

We lost Kingdom Hearts and Resident Evil games to it on the Switch. I can play them just fine offline during a storm natively on the PS4 or PC without artifacting, disconnecting or lag.

    ~ OPINION AHEAD!!! ~

“In my personal opinion”… cloud gaming is a complete scam. Not simply just because “you do not own it”, but because they require the smallest amount of effort to do on the company’s end and the biggest amount of effort on the consumer’s end to do. Most of the time, you might not even be able to play it. Then, they decide to sell it at FULL price. The companies should be catering to the consumers, not the other way around. In my opinion, I’d rather them say they cannot put the games on the Switch instead of doing this and having the majority of people not even be able to play it on the Switch it’s supposed to be on.

Cloud gaming is never acceptable, you’re paying full price (or a meaningful fraction of it) for a RENTAL. The games usually last up to 2-3 years because the servers must close as soon as the amount of active players drop. I’d say stay away from it. You’re doing a big favor for the gaming industry.
