Not a JRPG for anyone looking for that. That should be Cyber Sleuth. And Survive is a visual novel/SRPG.
This game is a sucessor of the original Digimon World for PSX, it’s all about the Virtual Pet simulator thing, raising your Digimon properly so it grows into the creature you want. Although this time you can have two Digimon st once.

I’ve been playing this on PlayStation, and can definitely recommend it to people who are looking for a more old school experience. Pretty long, sometimes quite challenging game that’s a lot of fun. The Switch is a great system for this game.

I always suck at the Digimon World games. I played this on PS4 and the original on PS1. I know how to look after my Digimon okay, but I get steamrolled _hard_ in battles. My biggest weakness is trying to find the right balance between attack moves doing good damage and moves that don’t burn a lot of MP, since I either do pitiful damage or use a couple of good moves before needing to recharge. Any way to improve on battling?

I love Digimon and played the hell out of Digimon World. I gotta say this game missed the mark.
The animation has almost 0 love. People gave so much crap to Pokémon Violet and Scarlet, but at least they didn’t play it safe.
Example, go to the gym and train your Digimon. It’s freaking boring in Next Order. They stand there and a roulette wheel comes up, and you press X. For something you have to do a lot why is this so neglected. In Digimon World 1, you had a waterfall training session, a track, a blackboard you wrote on, there was so much love there that decades later they made cards in the Digimon TCG that reference it.
Next Order also has one song, so get used to that playing constantly while you run around with Digimon so giant they block your view of your character.
Go fishing in Digimon World 1. He has a pole, a line, there’s fish, you pull them in. Fun! Next Order, it’s a sparkly spot you press X on and the animation is bad. It’s basically three frames.
Lastly, the game holds your hand so much you might as well marry it. It’s basically fetch quest the game, and there’s literally parts in the game where you’ll see a cool character, and they’ll tell you they can’t talk to you yet because you’re not level 20. Lol! Maybe not worded like that but in 2022 if a game designer can’t figure out a way to block progress discretely or have you go where they want you to go then they should rethink if they should be making games.
I vent because I was so disappointed in this game and how much time I spent slowly jogging across the plains. :/ You guys say Pokémon is empty wait until you play this

Digimon is a ripoff of Pokemon. Not only have I played some of it’s games, but I also saw their anime. It’s clearly trying to copy Pokemon in EVERY PERSPECTIVE POSSIBLE.

Not sure if I’ll be buying this on the switch though, since PC is my priority and I’d already be double dipping (since I already own it on the PS4) but just like cyber sleuth this game is worth the triple dip I feel.
