I’ve been in a spot of poverty recently which meant that I wasn’t able to really control what games I played, mostly it was whatever was already in my inbox and fighting games I enjoyed. Started working again after finding a job, find this at the library 5 minutes away. It’s going to be a great weekend!

I got Pokémon snap from my library recently. Love it. Lets me see which games are 100% not worth the sticker price 😂
I really wish my local library had video games. Hopefully someday.
You can find Arthur books, and lots of other books too, at your local library
Nice. I saw a similar post recently too. Definitely worth checking to see if your library stocks them.
Never knew libraries had games.
Don’t forget to see if anyone claimed the gold points for that cart yet.
Are you accusing me of not paying my taxes?
That’s dope the library rents games haha and this is a good one, I had a lot of fun with it.
Yup. Libraries are fantastic! Also by borrowing you show there’s an interest in borrowing those type of items.
I would also recommend checking to see if your local library is apart of a bigger system. If they are they will send each other items.
Mine once had Wii games in it, that’s where I got Super Paper Mario at the time
I don’t think my library carries games lol
The OG Gamepass
Aaaand I just placed a hold at my local library
Just a reminder that libraries will also take your games as donations
I moved back home and the county library doesn’t do this. I wish they did
100% great way to check out games, honestly lucky to have a fantastic library in my municipality.
Nioce! Have fun.
Weird coincidence. Just today I took my son to our just renovated library to get his first library card. I took him to the kid’s section and saw they had a shelf of switch games. Nothing great in stock aside from Yoshi’s Crafted World, but it was still cool that they had it.
do they have gal gun?
My library does this & I think it’s the coolest thing!
I hope they figure out a way some day to offer it digitally like they do ebooks (via Libby & Overdrive) & movies (via Kanopy & Hoopla). Maybe more for PC gaming…
My brother in Christ…please trim your fingernails and keep them clean. Pleeeaase.
but now the devs are gonna starve
The internet tells me libraries have all kinds of cool stuff like video games, 3D printers, baking pans, all kinds of stuff. What does my library have? Nothing but books, and most of them don’t even have pictures.
Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card
Donation coming.
The Library is awesome. I remember mine used to rent out SNES and n64 games when I was a kid but unfortunately they stopped at some point. (They do have a nice little rec room with switches and games for the kids/teens to play on site)
One thing that blew my mind was that nowadays they rent out mobile wifi hotspots with unlimited data (as well as chromebooks and ipads) Im actually using the hotspot right now! Which is a lifesaver because we can’t afford internet. It’s only like 4Mb per second so it’s not quite good for much more than browsing or some slower paced online games but its an invaluable resource.
One thing I like about renting games from libraries is that u can actually take ur time playing the game and see if u like it or not.
Yeah! That’s how I got into animal crossing. I didn’t think I’d like it but I got it at the library and became obsessed!
If your library doesn’t have video games, talk to us! Talk to your librarian!
I’m a nerd and a librarian. I’m trying to get Xbox and PlayStation games at two libraries I run and Switch games at another library in our system.
Also, if you have physical games you want to get rid of, consider donating them.
If your library can’t or won’t get games, they can do inter library loan and borrow from those of us that do have video games.
i love libraries. i do read a lot, but my main reason for loving them is just how much of a warm and calm atmosphere they always have. i go to my local one quite often just to sit in the ambience of books and work on whatever i want/need to. even donate some of my time to move heavy stuff for the ladies that work there.
side note too, if you are homeless, libraries should be your number one location you spend your free time. just the access to the information is one thing, but libraries really are a bigger social hub than people realize. just spending a few hours there a week can help you make so many connections with your local community that can really roll things in the right direction for you.
I’ve never played “Kirby and the Forgotten Please Return Inside Library”
isnt gamefly still around?
I don’t think libraries in my country have ever had video games. Books, magazines, music, movies, but not videogames.
That would be such a nice place to attend. Well, libraries are but that one would be so cool.
Switch games have huge wait lists at my library. This game, for example, has 156 holds right now. But it’s great to be able to borrow these for free.
Man this makes me miss video rental stores we had quite a few back when I was kid but they’re all closed now.
My local library does have games but they are all mostly PS3/Xbox 360/Wii generation.
More like, “mom said I should go to the library more, learn a few things. TIL I can get new releases to play on my console”
What the hell? Since when did libraries lend out video games. That’s one hell of a library
I use my library for e-book rentals, but they don’t offer video games. It would be amazing if they did, but with budget cuts, I understand why they don’t.
Recuerden cuidar sus carteras, aun falta enero y el pago predial

You don’t say 🤔
ur nails 😐
I work at a library and I’ve been pushing to organize some kind of digital lending program for games, because I always hear it’s too expensive for us to risk lending them out. Lots of us play games and are big on representing it. We do some things, like lend out systems to schools and things, but video games should be supported just like any other medium.
