Found this in the Twin Cities earlier this week. Wanted to sit and play for a while but the rest of the family was still outside waiting.

Worked at a McDonald’s with one of these, I highly recommend never touching these controllers. Only slobbery kids with shit all over their hands play them

Most of those things probably would still work if the TV was replaced

Zooms in.
“Yep. Those control sticks are destroyed.”

You get to cut your thumb up on those excellent analog sticks.

My local McDanks still have these two except all of the games are licensed trash.

Am I the only one who remembers when they were N64 kiosks?

This is nothing short of a miracle

The GC is still a damn good machine. I hope it stays there forever.

I remember once when I was young, I walked over to these younger kids playing one of these. They were trying to beat the airport level on Sunshine, but they didn’t understand what to do.
I helped them, and I think it may have been my first real sense of feeling accomplishment.

I work for a tech importer here in Ecuador. They had this Gamecube kiosk for years in storage. Last year i went ther (with permission) and asked if i could take the GC. It took 2 hours and 3 workers to break the kiosk appart to get the GC. That shit is sturdy! Anyway, took the GC home, it had smash in it. God Bless nintendo the console still worked after all those years. The controls were fucked though. 🙁
Over_Heaven
There’s more bloody grease and bacteria than plastic on those controllers man, I wonder if the employees ever go clean them up.
trainercatlady
That’s because the Gamecube is a motherfucking Tank. Respect the Gamecube. Used the last reserves of Nintendium for it.
rube
Well oiled, those controllers be.
SloppyinSeattle
No joke, GameCube was Nintendo’s best console imo. Also the generation where Nintendo made their best games.

Ask a worker for a pair of gloves before you touch those controllers. As a scientist I’m tempted to swab those things and put em under a microscope and barf.
pyroeggMC
There’s a McDonald’s near me that still has an N64 station up and running.
lundyforlife22
I remember begging my mom to allow to stay at the rest stop McDonald’s because they had a gamecube with Luigi’s Mansion and I didn’t own a gamecube.
mgfan2029
This was back in 2003 but I remember a crysler dealership had a SNES with Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World
MichmasteR
Wish I had pictures but my Pizza Hut in Mexico still has N64 stations…

It sucks that places have stopped putting actual consoles in their waiting rooms/play areas. So many places opt for mobile apps that have gotten really popular. Makes sense from a business standpoint, but man I miss seeing an N64 at my orthodontist’s.
ManualSearch
Ew, gross. Now I’m smelling that play place scent.

I remember when the staff kicked me out because I wasn’t eating anything and beating other kids at Mario Kart. I was like 7 or 8 and didn’t have anything else to do. Damn it who’s slicing onion while I’m writing this?
juggleaddict
Put a nuclear-war-proof console in a metal lock box, and as suspected, it’s indestructible. Come back when they demolish the building… it’ll still be there churning away ragequits of mariokart! : )
witchlit
There is no playing fair in Mario kart.

Thousands of years in the future. Alien archeologists will uncover working gamecubes.

I always wonder why McDonalds corporate lets some people keep these. Like, has corporate abandoned these stories now? Are they rogues? Has Ronald refused to bless them with his light?
OctorokHero
One dentist’s office I went to as a kid had a GameCube kiosk, like the kind you’d see at a game store, that I remember playing Mario Superstar Baseball. I wonder if they still have it.
DongsAboutJane
The ones at my local McDonald’s would reset every few minutes, and for some reason animal crossing was one of the games there..you had enough time to make a character and town name and then you’d be done. it was the first time I ever played and for some reason I guess I liked that enough to ask for the game for christmas that year. its been one of my favorite games ever since
docktacake
I completely forgot that these existed. The McDonalds that was about a mile from my house had these until they remodeled a few years ago.

Really speaks to the quality of old game systems. I dare look at my Xbox one the wrong way and it will crash the game.

How good is the dashback on those though?

I remember my local McDonald’s had these and it would always drive me nuts when the game would restart after a time limit. It still was a blast to play while everyone finished eating.
XanderSnave
I can’t tell you how many hours I lost to Melee on one of these. I wasn’t even that big into video games, I just always chose Pikachu because I liked the Pokemon show. I didn’t have any idea who most of the other characters were.
Bancatone
That’s cool and all, but why is it playing Mario Kart and not Smash Melee
danmarkish
This McDonalds can have a GameCube kiosk working for about 20 years but my McDonald’s can’t even have a working ice cream machine

These where my childhood, I remember knowing nothing about what I was playing and making zero in progress in what I now believe to be Super Mario Strikers, Double Dash and Pikmin. Good stuff 😀

The hunt for a kiosk with the rubber still intact on the controller continues…
