I get that it’s geared toward younger kids and families, but the lack of thrill rides for older crowds is disappointing, given that this has been developing for nearly a decade. Even after watching footage of the Japan park, it looks very underwhelming from a technical standpoint. Here’s hoping the DK expansions add the thrill rides.

As cool as it is all being themed to Super Mario, I wish there were more elements from other Nintendo games like Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid, etc.

It’s called “Super Nintendo World,” but the theme park seems to be 100% Mario. I think some elements of Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, etc. would be nice.

Nintendo be like we will make a fortune with this

It’s hard to imagine they had enough room to make a decent sized area. The park is already jam packed with stuff.

Does this park (and the one in Japan) seem…small…to anyone else? I don’t know, it feels very contained compared to other theme parks.

This all looks very cool but I guess I just don’t see the appeal, personally. I’d just go for the food.

I’m going next Friday night and I’m so excited!! Definitely going to be a little small, it’s put into a very cramped corner of the park (I don’t even know how one would expand it, tbh) but my 6 year old self is screaming inside. 🥰 Looking forward to trying the ride out!

  9. I was able to go over the break to the location in Osaka. If you are a MARIO fan, you will marvel at the level of detail that was put into building this theme park. If you are a NINTENDO fan, the theme park will likely fall short of your expectations. This is a Mario world park with little reference to Kirby, Donkey Kong, Zelda, etc etc.

As is with many theme parks, the lines are going to be absurd. Be aware of this. It is easy to spend 6+ hours here just waiting in lines. We had a fast pass for Yoshi’s Island and Bowser’s Dungeon and it took is 4-5 hours to see everything.

Children have a scavenger hunt style activity they can do that requires them to go to different locations and solve puzzles, all enabled by a simple Mario watch that you can purchase.

The ride to look out for is Bowser’s Dungeon / Mario Kart. I forget the exact name of it. The line here is the longest but it is well worth it to see the detail they put into Bowser’s residence. The ride itself is AR Mario Kart. Cool to try once.

All in all I would say we enjoyed our experience but it did not hit my expectations as an adult gamer and long time Nintendo fan. It focused too much on nostalgia and eye candy as the main attraction rather than activities and rides. It is definitely meant for a younger audience or adult fans with children.
