Huzzah! Been waiting for this. Now I can try it before the sale ends.
NonEuclidianMeatloaf
It’s awful on switch, just awful. DigitalFoundry did an in-depth review of each platform, and switch is totally inferior
NintendadSixtyFo
It’s god awful. Mechanics are irrationally bad. Infuriating boss fights. Aimlessly running around with no sense of purpose at all. It’s not worth $1. Actually the demo should pay you to suffer through it.
** downvotes be damned I stand by it **

Is it a “Play the begining and the save carry on to the main game if you do purchase” kind of demo? or a “Get thrown in a seemingly random part of of the game completly disconnected from everything else and nothing saves” kind of demo
wyattsup
They give you 15 minutes to play, but it’s hard to play it more than 5. Awful on the Switch.
NZepplin
I’ve already finished the game it’s pretty good
BBgotReddit
Sonic’s ears are in the front. Front Ears.
NotScottPilgrim
It’s time to face my fear (of not enjoying this game on the only available platform I own)
john_weiss
It’s a timed demo.
Timed Demos fuckin suck.
TrueAfricanHero
I’ll try it out but I’m only planning on getting it on PC after a hefty discount. Too much mixed reception and frankly not enough done to justify giving Sega even $20.
TheAdamena
Played it and 100%ed it on my Steamdeck. Really fun game.
AtsignAmpersat
I kind of find sonic games to be pretty bad in general but I’ve heard ok things about this one. I should try the demo to see if anything has gotten better.
itsastart_to
I feel like limited progressions are better demo wise bc atleast you can continue to get a feel for a game rather than timed
TheRedScaledMan
I downloaded it from the Japanese eshop last week. Honestly, I enjoyed it. I was on the fence regarding this but I wouldn’t mind playing it properly now. In terms of performance though I don’t I don’t know if it would be switch or PS5.
dWARUDO
is this demo exclusive to switch? don’t see it on ps store
keithandmarchant
It’s playable, but it is the blurriest game on Switch I have ever played (The Demo)
Gohansupe
That’s cool
jondgul
Why does Nintendo hate demos?
Bluenymph82
15 minutes sounds really short. I own the game, so I want to give out a small warning to those who suffer motion sickness.
Test moving around on the rails as you’ll be doing it a lot. If it makes you feel weird, you might want to pass on this because it doesn’t get any easier.
BrainSweetiesss
The Sonic franchise needs to seriously consider stop making games all together. The bar is set so low that some people even considered this crap an acceptable game. And yes. The switch version is the worst of them all.
Mean-Biscotti-2960
Reviewers have been far too kind with Frontiers . It’s really not very good at all . By all means enjoy the demo but don’t expect too much imho

I enjoyed the demo enough that its on my short list to buy in the future when I can afford games again. Was going to buy it this month but found out I need glasses and had to pay $200 out of pocket thus I’m broke lol
justsound
I played the demo maybe it’s a false memory but I remember Sonic Generations on the 360 looking pretty good and not blurry unlike frontiers. Now I know it can’t look the best during the open world part but why couldn’t the optimize it better during the actual levels that don’t require that much.

Finally! I was really keen to experience by myself how it plays on switch, after completing the game on PS4. I must say, it’s not that bad on handheld mode. Docked though, it looks more rough. I think it wouldn’t be so obvious if I hadn’t the PS4 version, that still is far from perfect, as reference. Sometimes ignorance is a bliss.
Filon73
I just tried it 2 times, and I’m pretty surprised, is it bad graphically? Pretty much, is it worse than the Xbox and the PS5 version? Definitely, is it unplayable? ABSOLUBTELY NOT, JEEZ I ACTUALLY HAD FUN
ricochetpeestream
I was curious about this one. I’ve played quite a few Sonic games through the years and they’ve been extremely hit or miss. But I’ve liked many of them and I’d heard a lot of good about this one.
I ended up not even lasting the 15 minutes the demo offers before I quite and rage-uninstalled it though due to the terrible controls. Sonic games are of course famous for having terrible controls and bad camera, but they have absolutely never been *this* utterly unplayable before as far as I can remember. 0/10 wouldn’t touch again even if gifted for free.
Pacha_S
sonic frontiers is god
godoftheseapeople
I received this game for Christmas and have really been enjoying it on the Switch. I mostly play it on my TV, and I haven noticed it does seem to look worse when playing handheld, but it is definitely playable, and more than that, it is pretty fun. I understand the latter is subjective, but still.
If you like Sonic games, I feel like this is a pretty interesting improvement on them. You guys might consider making up your own minds about the game, rather than just accepting whatever some podcast says about it.
LeftHandParasite
Ooh nice, I can mess with it and see if it’s actually any fun or just a meme lol.

If youve got adhd or any attention issues, this game is like a drug, dang it! You do one open world thing, get distracted by something else, than get distracted by something else, and the game never punishes you for that. Sonic’s speeds allows RAPID and insane fast pace discovery in an open world environment that majority of open world games like zelda botw or skyrim or any in the genre dont even touch this feeling. It feels practically like a different type of game entirely, even though the aesthetic is very reminiscent of BOTW. Addicting, well controlled, and FOR A SONIC GAME, its probably the best since sonic adventure imo. They are going to continue with the frontiers formula YAY! I cant wait to see what they can do with a sequel. The game lacks polish and diversity in environments. The final boss they obviously ran out of money and had to ship. The cyberspace levels are a blatant lazy reuse of assets. The last island is literally the exact same as the first island, they literally split the first island up and called the last island a “separate island, which is so lazy to end an open world game with the same exact terrain and environment you started in.
But the game is “fun” and creative and i havent been able to say that about a mainline sonic game in a long, LONG time. I most definitely wouldnt recommend it for switch IF YOU HAVE OTHER CONSOLES OR PC. If switch is your only way to play, go for it. But the game basically demands 60fps. And pc is probably the best platform for it as mods can potentially fix some things over the years like draw distance and pop in if the devs dont end up fixing those issues. They apparently ARE going to redo/fix the final boss which was surprising, but one of the lead devs has been very active responding to criticism on twitter lately.
I am extremely excited for the future of the franchise now, with a return to form for storytelling, music, concept, worldbuilding, great mechanics. If frontiers is followed up with a sonic adventure 3 (or frontiers 2), with a frontiers open world, cyberspace/speed levels that have original designs, and different characters like the adventure games and modern chao garden, I will literally cry. Dream game right there.

FedEx is delivering mine tomorrow! I can’t wait!
professorwormb0g
Just tried it out and lost all interest in this game. Felt janky as fuck. The controls, the movement, the combat…. Compared to Nintendo platformers there’s just a serious lack of polish and direction.
YGOInsider
If you can: Play it on another console
Not sure if it’s a Segas fault for not optimising it properly or just the Switch being pushed to far but I had to stop playing it on the Switch after the first Boss (the Tower) and switch to the XBox Series S Version. Load times are just to long, textures look weird and (maybe it’s just me) but the input doesn’t seem to be as smooth to me :-/
Love the Switch and the Game though, just not a great combination.
bbq62
Does anyone know the download size of the demo?
OoTgoated
A little late, but good for people on the fence about buying a scaled back version of the game for the sake of the portability. I for one haven’t even tried the game on any platform so I might give it a whirl.
Cleopetra20
okay i just tried the demo and i don’t get why everyone’s been yelling about the game being so terrible like you can’t see two feet in front of your face and stuff like that? i played some of it and it looked okay to me! i could see railings and jump pads and stuff from pretty far away. so unless they fixed that with a patch i don’t get it?
plus the gameplay is super fast and smooth. combat is fun!
really don’t see why people were saying it was like some muddy unplayable piece of crap?
or maybe my eyes are bad i don’t know? *shrugs* it looks fine though to me!
Lowtemphighterp
I bought this game yesterday in the early morning and shamelessly put 14 hours into it since then
ZensoFujiyaka
The demo sold me on the game.
I got Death Stranding vibes from the visuals of the first area.
Also, the music.
yep.

Like Legends Arceus before it, a new road traveled for a long standing franchise has gotten me to dive in and i haven’t regretted it.
excited to see where Sonic goes from here.
ZodiaksEnd
kinda too late on the demo needing to be out long before but its not my place to say that it should of been out before game came out
also only 15mins is kinda strange when most actually timed demos go for 30 minutes …..
piousp
Just downloaded and played. I am actually impressed. Game runs fine for me, actually looks interesting and gameplay is fluid.
I might actually buy
ParkBarrington360
Can somebody check the switch port for Denuvo?
StormShadow13
Terrible demo in many ways. 15 min time limit is ridiculous.
