Hope this controls better with an actual N64 controller than it does with any kind of emulation configuration I’ve ever used. My nostalgic thoughts on this game are very warm indeed.

Whelp, looks like I’ll be taking Friday off for a day of nostalgia gaming 🥳
As a kid I remember being so, so proud when I finally unlocked 007 mode (or whatever it was called when you cleared all the single player timed challenges)…wonder if late 30s me still has the skill and patience for that 😅

So pumped for this! I bought a Switch N64 controller specifically for this game because it feels like such an integral part of the experience.
Such fond memories of unlocking all the cheat codes on the original, can’t wait to do it all over again

I was a god at this game. And this game is the reason I dropped out of college (and Red Alert).
Happy ending to the story though, I eventually went back to school and got an EE degree.
Now the re-release is just in time for my two children to experience my own joy of playing the game and getting kicked out of college.

*Goldeneye* 64 is among the very few older games I’m not sure I would want to see ‘prettied up’ to more modern standards visually.
With both *Mario 64* and the two N64 *Zelda* titles, my fingers were (and still are) crossed for a ‘Director’s Cut’-style project that incorporated the best ideas from their respective remakes and gave everything some ‘quality of life’ upgrades and a fresh new coat of paint. When OG *Paper Mario* was announced for NSO, basically untouched from the N64 original, I was happy to see that Nintendo was acknowledging its existence, but downcast in the sense that this didn’t bode well for my hopes of a remastered *Paper Mario* trilogy collection someday coming to Switch.
And then the trailer shows footage of that outdoor snow map that I’m pretty sure was used for two different missions—an infiltration, then an escape—and I just don’t see how it would translate to modern-ish graphics. The footpaths through the level wouldn’t be so obviously carved out; the effectively non-existent draw distance would be frustrating for many. And yet…it just *works* really well in the context of the original release. Better than it theoretically should.

Apparently people hate the game and giving restrictions for playing with friends.

And i know that was meant more for younger kids, but damn.
