Try taking snapshots of one of your Pokemon that you have caught (go to your Pokemon storage, to a Psychic or Steel Pokemon and press the camera button)
You gotta use caught Pokémon. Otherwise it would say „in the wild“ or „wild“ Pokémon
Are you taking pics from ones in your storage? Then tapping the checkmark to save it?
Make sure you aren’t taking the picture on your phone camera, but through the app icon of a camera.
Yugioh text ruling be like
Try to take a picture of a psychic type in your Pokémon storage, then back out and hit the share option. Click on share photo and then cancel out, did that help? It helped me, good luck 🤞🏼

If you’re running the game on iPhone then delete app and reinstall. Mine had the same issue long ago
U need to take snapshots of either wild PURE steel or psychic or from ur inv but has to be a single steel ir psychic e.g mewtwo would count
I remember a long time ago (and it may have been this same research task) where I would take tons of pictures and the game would NOT recognize that I had taken the pictures. It ended up that there was a glitch in the system that I had to google and do steps to fix. I have an iphone. I can’t remember if it was just an iphone thing or not but the steps I did fixed the problem. I wish I could remember what they were, but if you can’t find the steps online, maybe contact support.

Yeah I had this issue. IIRC it was some kind of iPhone / app issue and I can’t remember what I had to do to fix it but it was easy (like a reinstall?) snd once I did I think I just used snapshots from storage.
And you can always take whatever number of pics of the same exact pokemon to finish the research.

I feel ya OP! I’ve went through that too and had to figure it out the old fashioned way before the Internet. (Yeah I’m that old). It’s hard to outthink the game sometimes! That’s what makes it a better game! To challenge you!

You can do it from your storage, just type in either type and pick a Pokémon, then you should be able to see the camera icon whilst looking at the Pokémon (top corner not sure which side I think)
Just search in the search string psychic and then take snapshots
I still need a snapshot of landorus. And 2 omynytes or kabutos. Lol
I have found sharing the picture (I email it to myself) seems to count whereas just taking the snapshot doesn’t always seem to work.
Are you taking pics of “wild pokemon” or pokemon in your bag? I am thinking you need to take pics of your pokemon, not wild ones
Did you try taking photos of Pokémon you’ve caught and Pokémon from the wild?
Niantic can make this a lot clearer by adding a word….
Maybe if you stopped distilling them into 40s and drinking them you could take the snapshots you need?

Try Pokemon that you own? There is a way to snapshot your own Pokemon.
The snapshot ones are always buggy
Probably mentioned already but I wondered the same when doing this. I was taking snaps of ones I had caught which didn’t work but it worked when I encountered one in the wild, caught it, and then took a snap
