Don’t you hate when you have “friends” like that? I had multiple people who wait till the last gift to open to become best friends but they don’t send gifts to me, just wait for me to send mine to use the egg.

You’ve interacted with these 2 today, and if you don’t send a gift either, aren’t you just as problematic as them?
I think you might be over thinking it. Most ppl don’t care if you send a gift just open what they send you. The point is to level up and if they are random ppl your never meeting them to do anything otherwise. Like most have commented no one truly cares if you send a gift back as long as the meter moves for the friendship. I send 80+ gifts a day but can only open 30 the math just won’t work out that’s why I send the gifts bc even if they can’t send or I can’t open I can at least move the needle if they can open them.
I send or open one gift per person per day, because you can only level friendship up once a day (iirc) (eta and some people don’t know or don’t care). If someone sends a gift before I get to it that day, then they just didn’t give me a chance to.
I use gifts in two ways for quests and to get poke balls when I’m low, they’re a chore to me other wise
I just delete them if they’ve been sitting on it for like a week, brings me much joy haha.
I get a lot of those, but I decide after i hit level 40 that I should be thankful for the +160,000 experience and move on with the game. Lord know how long it would take me to get to 40lv to old grid way.

Yes. Had one person nearly become my first “best friend” until said person held my gift for nearly a year. I was thinking about legit deleting them from my friendslist before we leveled up, just out of spite.
It’s more of a flaw in the game play then people being rude or self absorbed imo. It takes millions to level up now and friendship is the only reasonable way to get points unfortunately. They should just make it if someone uses the egg the other gets the boost too or something

I hate when you get to Best Friends but they open the gift you sent that qualifies for best friend status, and then immediately delete you so you don’t get the 100,000XP
I just add random people for the friendship exp. The eggs are just a bonus tbh

I can’t open gifts most of the time because I have so many friends and the app restricts how many you can open per day. I still send gifts to everyone but I’m sure some think I’m hoarding.
Well… no. I see you’re using the term “friends” loosely, as this isn’t someone you actually know. There was no mutual agreement. You added a stranger. They added a stranger. Delete them and add more strangers to take their place. They don’t owe you anything. You were both using each other for progress in a video game.
Invite them to a raid. If the accept it increases your friendship level
I think your reading two much in two this. So I got over 80 friends but I have about 20 stops where I’m luckic get spin 5 day . So I send what gift I have but can be weeks before get a gift all my friends. All so having only few gyms where I live mean I don’t have much cash so I bags is alway full so j can’t open gift all time . These guy might be like me and playing some where rural.
Someone did this to me once, wouldn’t even open or send me the very last gift and this lasted a few weeks. Removed them so they never got that sweet sweet XP
That’s the risk you take when adding randoms.
My advice – if the person you’re adding isn’t part of your local community, just assume you’re not getting the bonus xp from an egg. Once Campfire goes global, that will make eggs easier for those that want to min-max their xp gains.
The 1st person I met while playing did this to me, and has now become our local villain. Absolute 🐋 with three accounts (almost all lvl 50 now), drives around and takes local gyms in the late hours of the night, every night. When we got close to BF she stopped sending and I realized this was why. I stopped as well out of spite, and was considering deleting her. Forgot about it and some event came along weeks later that doubled friendship days.

It used to bug me. I send over 100 gifts a day when hubby is off shift. I rotate the people I open from but that means I open from individuals a couple times a week. I have several peeps waiting to go to next level holding a gift but I just ain’t bothered anymore. There is too much going on in the real world right now to be fazed about who opens what. I just try to enjoy the game as best I can. 🥰
