With the control style 1.2 – Solitaire and using the left stick as the right stick and the right stick as the left stick in the console parameters, the game controls really really great.

Edit: Also don’t forget to set the look up/down option to upright in the game options.

Oddjob Rule is still in affect for multiplayer!

It doesn’t really have a good control scheme for how I play. I tried some of the ones in the comments, but I just can’t seem to get it to click like old. Maybe I need to get the NSO N64 controller…

Is there a way to navigate out of the multiplayer options once you enter them? None of the buttons go back

Now we just need Diddy Kong Racing and the holy trinity of Rare N64 games will be complete

  6. Josh100_3

Can’t wait for everyone under the age of 25 to have a meltdown over the controls.

Anyone with the Japanese N64 selection know if this game is also on there? I’d assume it’d be released at the same time, since it was revealed in the Japanese direct as well, but there’s no overview video on Nintendo’s Japanese YouTube and there’s no mention of it on their social media. Just kinda curious, since this would be the only time the releases didn’t happen at the same time (or got a different game released instead)

First thing I did in the Facility was shoot Dr. Doak.

    I, just had to..

how to control with dual stick:

    1) you already read it. 1.2 solitaire style for in game control settings needs to be selected.

    2) change switch system settings. scroll down to controller and sensors. change button mapping. control stick settings. then make the L the right and the R the left.

    3) you can also change the invert settings on a different in game menu past the controller menu. “look up/down” reverse or upright.

you can change any other bindings too in system settings, but i just went with that and can learn the rest.

hope this saves digging through threads.

PS. if you don’t see the game in the switch n64 thing, you need to close the game and press + over the n64 game in the game selection screen. you need to update the game in order to see it. it’ll also pop up with a huge game icon when you reopen the n64. so scroll UP

For anyone who wants twin-stick controls but doesn’t know how to enable them: I gotchu.

**In the in-game pause menu,** change your Control Style to 1.2 Solitaire. Also may wanna change Look Up/Down to Upright (it’s reversed by default.)

In addition to this, go to the Switch home screen, and **in System Settings > Controllers and Sensors > Change Button Mapping,** swap your left and right sticks.

While you’re at it, if you’re used to left trigger to aim and right trigger to fire in your FPS games, you should rebind ZR to ZL, and ZL to L or R.

Then you just might wanna save your changes as a preset, so that you can easily swap between your default and custom controls between sessions.

    Happy playing!

Works great with the Switch N64 controller.

They definitely modified the emulator a bit to allow for widescreen for HDTVs. I’m not complaining.

Framerate is excellent. No lag so far for me. My only complaint is the N64 controller is too sensitive lol.

This game is a lot more challenging than I remember it being.

  13. Super_Goomba64

Zoomers don’t know how much of a miracle this. Never thought in a 1000 years I would be able to play this on modern consoles

Downloaded this puppy and gave it a go. Just a disclaimer older millennial here so 007 was a huge part of growing up.

First of all I let my Fortnite obsessed son play and after him absolutely destroying me in Fortnite this was more my style. He does the building and stuff so that is where he gets me. Haha no building in this game son and I took him out several times. But once he got the controls down he wanted to keep playing!

It looks pretty good. Not the jumbled mess I was expecting. No slowdown from the original. Looking forward to getting some more time in tommorow

Just seeing this on the Nintendo store brought up soo many memories of my first uni year in Australia. Crowded around a 14” tv playing 4 player.

  16. MashTheGash2018

I haven’t played the game in 20 plus years but can still hear alarm when you blow up the tanks in the second level

  17. NZepplin

Just played the first four missions and loving it

  18. MineDrumPE

I actually love the original controls of this game. It’s the first fps I ever played and I never really got into fps games after that so the controls are just ingrained in my memory

  19. spiderham42

This is the news I’ve been waiting for to upgrade my online package. Sorry, my sons online package. I’m sure he will love this game. Or not after seeing what’s possible with modern graphics. But I will make him love it.

  20. MattHasIdeas

Man. Even re-mapping the controls (Shoutout to /u/AndrewTheNebula), this is way harder than I remember it. Have to train my mind around how the auto-aim works, because I am getting my ass handed to me in the Dam lol

  21. [deleted]

The game controls fine with the 1.1 controller scheme. My brain can’t comprehend twin stick Goldeneye and solitare with reversed sticks feels AWFUL!

And I’m an avid modern fps player.

  22. Wonderful_Pen_4699

Dont hate me(only played a little bit) but I feel the default controls(after un-inverting the verticle controls) work fine. Is there something I’m missing?

  23. Time to suck at this again 24 years or so later 😅

  24. Now if I can only find the wireless N64 controller to actually play the N64 games instead of trying to figure out every button combo. How is it still out of stock!

  25. Bernie_Ecclestone

I am so glad I got the N64 controller because it was made for this game. Having a blast and it holds up better than expected, the widescreen is so great.

  26. admiralseahag

People who haven’t played since like the 90s like me…. Does it hold up just a little bit?

  27. Maverickx25

It may be just me, but holy hell does the sensitivity seem high when precision aiming. I may need to get me a 64 controller like the old days.

  28. Ok-Possibility-6480

Is there a discord or anywhere we are all adding friend codes to make multiplayer easier?

  29. buttseason

Did the controller mapping for the Switch Pro controller but is there really no way to tweak the sensitivity??? This is painful. How the hell was I good at this in the 90’s?
