Ah yes, the Switch Pro that people have been talking so much about

  2. TacosD00d

Assuming the leaked pictures are real of the TOTK Special Edition OLED, it would have been nice if there was a second one with the Sheikah slate look.

  3. fiddlenutz

Ah new OLED special edition with fancy stickers that scalpers will sell for 500 and people will buy it.

  4. KingBroly

    The Sheikah Slate OLED

or maybe the Sheikah Slate lite

  5. Untitled_Epsilon9

Would be amazing if they actually released on of these!

Reading the comments, I can understand if it’s supposed to be a “Switch Slate” since the original game likely used “Wii U” pad.

It’s been a while so I don’t remember what BotW used.

  7. Between her saying “You can’t do it this time, Link” and him falling while she says “give me your power” in the newest trailer, I have a STRONG feeling we play ***AS*** Zelda for a good chunk of this game. This image is giving me more vibes that she’s our playable character for this game.

Edit: I put on headphones and rewatched it. She says “lend him your power” at the end. My bad … sorry, I have sub-par hearing. I still feel it’s a possibility we play as her, possibly swapping to her for a certain region of the map only she has access to?

  8. chodeofgreatwisdom

You think Zelda has to deal with Sheikah drift or maybe the technology was figured out by then?

It’s a shame that BotW was gutted of so many gamepad features so the Wii U release would have parity with the Switch version.

The gamepad obviously had a huge influence on some of the features given that the slate is used so often.

The reason BotW has so much menuing is because that shit feels way faster when using a second screen. The moment-to-moment pacing is pretty fucked in BotW due to this.

Things like checking maps, selecting items and weapons, it’s so smooth on the gamepad but requires pausing the whole game without it. It seems like a small difference but it means a lot. The 3DS and Wii U Zelda ports are proof of this. Those games are so much more dynamic without having to stop and button through menus all the time.

I hope that TotK won’t have this obvious problem seeing that it was a Switch game from its insemination, unlike Botw.

BotW will unfortunately always be a game that has some pretty obvious amputations due to the Wii U’s colossal failure and the understandably desperate need to launch the Switch as well as they could.

  10. ARCtheIsmaster

this image was released the same day as the trailer

  11. PeepsRebellion

She’s probably gonna lose it when they fall in the trailer and not be in the game at all is my guess. And everything is gonna be done through the arm. Idk how they would do the map tho

  12. BlueUnit

My theory is that Zelda won’t be playable but may follow you around for certain portions of the game and you’ll have to utilize her for puzzles, combat, etc.

  13. whiteravenxi

Man I wanna buy an oled but the hardware is just so old

  14. Hyper_Lamp

well the sheikah slate is a wii U gamepad so maybe the new one is a switch?

  15. Forest_GS

I found it interesting they didn’t include Zelda’s 3D model in breath of the wild. You only see her in pre-rendered cutscenes.

Modders had to make her from scratch.

  16. Digitalon

Anyone else think it was weird that Nintendo never released a special edition Switch based on the Sheikah Slate? It’s a literal no brainer considering the Sheikah slate was originally based on the Wii U gamepad and then eventually changed to look similar to the Switch.

  17. GimmeDatThroat

I watched the Arlo video about this earlier, and he said he’s not holding breath about being able to play as Zelda, but the torch and the slate make me think she’ll be playable in the underground.

Please have semi-dungeons with this Nintendo. You have the sky, overworld, and underworld. There’s too much potential for varied dungeons to sleep on.

    Please.

  18. Eggggsterminate

Would be great if this hints at being able to play as Zelda in the next installment!

  19. All_About_Tacos

Zelda must be strong if she can hold the heaviest Switch game

  20. DoesntFearZeus

Hasn’t the Sheikah Slate always looked like a switch? Sure it had a handle, but I thought that was kinda and in-joke with the game.

  21. Thedoctoradvocate

Braindead people answering that theres a torch in her left hand lmao

  22. yellowspaces

Girl you better hold that with two hands unless you want joycon drift

  23. GloinsonG

They need to make a Lite with an OLED screen already.

  24. HelloNarcissist

I always thought the original Sheikah slate was based on the Wii U gamepad, so it would make sense the Switch exclusive is a more Switch-like Sheikah slate.

  25. Sand__Panda

I will buy another Switch if one comes out Zelda themed. So, yea.. take my money!

  26. Panda_hat

I want a switch like that and I want it NOW! Shut up and take my money!

  27. jardex22

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was meant to tease an upgrade to the slate, rather than Zelda being playable.

  28. chocotripchip

It was posted right after the Direct by the official Japanese Zelda Twitter account, with a [Link](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FoeouHuaEAAew7m?format=jpg&name=large) one and the new [Bokoblin King](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FoexRduaAAAtWzo?format=jpg&name=large)

I made [2 basic 4K wallpapers](https://imgur.com/a/CqCm0cF) if you are interested. (looks fine on my dual monitor setup lol)

I’ve also seen one with the [broken Master Sword](https://youtu.be/hibqbFDMiz4?t=107) on Youtube but can’t find the source.

  29. Release a Zelda game where you get to actually play as Zelda, you cowards!

(yeah I’m intentionally ignoring the CD-i games)

  30. YeltsinYerMouth

Even Zelda needs a 3rd party grip to keep her hands from cramping

  31. SomeNintendoFan420

I know it’s unlikely to happen, but it would be a fun idea if this would mean Zelda with a Sheikah Slate could have some playable segments too, even if they’re very small. After all, they can just copy her attack combos from Age of Calamity, so the groundwork was already there.

  32. Dang, do you think this means that the game is finally confirmed to be coming to the Switch??

  33. Can’t wait for her to fall into a hole and be absent for the entire game.

  34. Koendrenthe

Every Zelda game uses the new gimmick of the console. BotW uses the tablet because it was meant to be a Wii-U title. This time the Switch will shine with its own unique functionality:

“Place the Nintendo Switch into the docking station to open the door”

“Pull the Nintendo Switch out of the docking station to pull the Master Sword from its pedestal”.

    /s

  35. ApocApollo

Nintendo of Europe genuinely posted this question because they don’t know either. Japan/America doesn’t tell NoE shit.

  36. Dicethrower

We’ve reached the phase of endless pointless speculation on the smallest details!
