New Etrian Odyssey game still a long way off according to the developers

I mean I expect another trilogy pack then they can work on Odyssey VII.

Well, I’ve only beaten the first one (before coming to a halt in its postgame dungeon) and recently gone for another playthrough thereof via the more character-driven Millennium Girl, so I couldn’t even feign impatience here.

I worry that the pricing on the new ports is a big mistake. Etrian Odyssey was so hype to see in the direct, but finding out that they’re asking for 80 for the three games (or 40 for an individual one) really deflated that. There also doesn’t seem to be a physical copy which is a bummer.
I want to support this series, I have such fond memories of playing IV on the 3DS. The map drawing adds such a unique and fun layer to dungeon crawling that I would otherwise likely get bored of. It really made you feel like you were the first person to ever venture in there and that you were making progress.
That said, I’m not going to pay 80 for these games, especially considering that I got Untold 1 and 2 (upgraded versions of these games!) for 10 euro each on 3DS.
I really hope Atlus’ take away from potentially low sales of the trilogy isn’t “Well nobody likes Etrian Odyssey after all,” when likely the reason will be that even fans of the series are not likely to pay a very high price for something they’ve probably already played. I’ll probably pick up the third game if it goes on sale.

Looking at the few bits of gameplay for the collection, yeah, I can see that. The current situation they have there isn’t the most elegant way they could translate the series’ gameplay to a single screen.
Hope it wouldn’t take 15 years like it did with TWEWY tho.

Man wonder what happened to Atlas. They used to drop games so frequently between the Etrian Odyssey games, SMT and Persona games in the 3DS. On switch all they’ve really released in terms of NEW games is just SMT V.

At least it sounds like they’re interested in a new title, and are planning on eventually making one.
I hope they weren’t relying on sales to predict interest in a new EO. I wont buy 1 or 2 *(especially at the asking price)* since the original games were kind of not-great, and the remakes still exist. I’d rather rebuy 4/5 or Persona Q/Q2.
Really no matter how pretty these look, the artstyle doesn’t benefit much from higher resolution, and the platform prohibits these remasters from being the definitive versions.
ALSO can we get an EMD2 port/localization?? Long shot but still, the first EMD sucked in comparison.

All I hope is it doesn’t end up as a franchise that dies off because they try to test the waters with the wrong thing at the wrong time and assume nobody is interested in the series anymore.
The remasters from what I can tell don’t look that brilliant. They might have stood a better chance if it was an untold trilogy, giving us an etrian odyssey untold 3, however if all it is, is the original three games with ‘HD’ slapped on it and uncompressed assets, it’s definitely not worth the asking price.
They were down to chump change on the 3ds long before the eshop was due to close, putting them on a new console doesn’t suddenly make them worth 10x more.

So hold on. Its been 4 whole years, almost 5 since their first teaser just to now give us a HD collection that looks like it went thru rpgmaker that cost $40 each and $80 for all just to test the waters for the new game? We are doomed. They didn’t even bother to give us Untold 1 and 2, this honestly feels like a quick cashgrab.

I only got that mystery dungeon of theirs because it was top down combat and I could see my characters….I always hated first person RPGs so I dunno why its a long way off for a game where only the enemy have animations
