I love the switch, but it’s really showing it age lately.

The grinding on the first was a huge put off….maybe this wont be as bad

Anyone know if I start the demo digitally and buy the game physically, will my progress still carry over? I know it works for digital but I wasn’t sure for physical.

Besides having 8 new paths/classes, what does this game offer that’s new in terms of gameplay or mechanics?
I really liked the first one, but the IGN review was fairly critical of it not feeling like a “new” game.
IMHO, this looks more like a massive DLC instead of a new game since it’s a huge bump in content but doesn’t alter or iterate upon the core mechanics of the game, but I could be wrong.
FWIW, I loved the first one, but not enough to buy the second one just to play 8 new classes/stories.

I loved the first one, but full AAA price for a big DLC? Meh

Just bought the $100 game voucher for 2 only to find out this wasn’t on it :/ oh well, at least I have Zelda pre-registered I guess.

Because of my insane backlog I was going to wait to start playing but dammit this review makes me want to start playing today. Ugh.

Do I have to play the first one in order to enjoy this one?

How are the interactions? That was my main problem as well a lot of peoples with the first game because other than that the demo got me hooked. Castti and Ochette especially I absolutely loved

Does the party actually interact?

I was hoping it would be a bit more different. I don’t see how it can get the such a high score with basically just a re skin of the same characters. Even the fonts / menus are the same.
The game was about a 6 or 7 out of 10 on the first imo and now it’s even more outdated. The pixel art was cool the first time but now that’s also gotten old.

There’s only one retailer near me that has the physical available but I can only get it by next Wednesday ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

I wanna play this!! I heard such mixed reviews about the first game that I’m glad I can just play this one on its own (unless I’m wrong?)

So I haven’t played the first, but the hype is really getting to me here, just 1 question though
During the playthrough of the main characters’ stories (outside of when they team up), do the main chars just party up with random NPCs that don’t need gear/level? How does that part work?
I’ve only played JRPGs where the main chars are constantly together

Just waiting for the game to be delivered at my door. Please have it asap. So excited.
Was keen to get it but cancelled my order for switch after playing the demo on my steam deck, we need a better switch!
EDIT: For those negging me, read this, it pretty well sums up how I feel about it. https://themakoreactor.com/news/octopath-traveler-2-switch-vs-ps5-vs-pc-which-version-to-buy-comparison-differences-steam-deck/46316/
