  1. I was a bit disappointed. Had no idea it was coming and as soon as I spotted it, I immediately went too see if the original Pokemon games were there

  2. Bizmarkie76

It’s definitely more impressive on my Series X..

  3. Good review! It’s good to know that the emulation is technically solid. I already knew that it looked good, smooth and properly scaled but I know that good emulation is hard to achieve.

I would love having the gba fire emblems playable on the switch. Metroid fusion, Pokémon, the castlevanias. I have fond memories of the gba.

  4. No-Buyer-3509

It really isn’t. You seen alot of emulators over the years like VBA and MGBA? They emulate the games perfectly as far as anyone is concerned.

  5. Clean_Perception_298

Wow a current-gen console can emulate prehistoric hand-held games. Impressive.

  6. BaBaDoooooooook

i just dusted off my switch lite today, and to my surprise gameboy and gba was on the store!!! awesome , now is the time to get a Nintendo Switch, Metroid 2 all day!!!!!

  7. TJ_Hipkiss

They tend to go under the radar but NERD just do not miss. Seriously, look up their list of developed technologies on Wikipedia. They are responsible for almost every piece of impressive tech Nintendo has put out in the last decade.

  8. DoushBeg

I almost shit my pants when I opened up Eshop randomly today and saw GBA/GBC emulators. Then I saw no Pokémon…. and closed the eshop :/

  9. TemurTron

Played through Mario Land 2 yesterday and it was a total blast. I had never actually finished the game as a kid. Eat shit, Wario!

  10. Evilcon21

Though i wonder if the online has been improved. Never tried it due haven’t found anyone to experiment with

  11. Josh100_3

Nobody talking about Wario land 3 like it’s not one of the best game boy colour games ever.

  12. aggron306

I wish they would put on Pocky and Rocky with becky

  13. lucaro64

No, it is not. Fans have been emulating these games for years.

  14. barbietattoo

This was literally the video I was waiting for.

  15. SkeletonLad

You can buy a $50 Anbernic handheld that comes with the entire GB, GBC, and GBA catalogs.

  16. Character-Juice624

Surprised we didn’t get Super Mario Land 1.

  17. ConcentricGroove

I bought the Gameboy Color when it came out and got Link’s Awakening then. Haven’t played it since. $20 a year make it an easy choice. Just wish I could buy these games and just have them instead of subscribing to a service.

  18. ghirish24

I’m finally getting to play Minish Cap for the first time and I feel like a kid again. Why did they wait so long to do this!?

  19. acewing905

ie. They actually function as they should at launch, as opposed to N64
A step in the right direction at least

(I don’t think any comparisons to other emulators is really meaningful
This is a paid service by Nintendo themselves. It obviously needs to at the very least match free homebrew solutions by third parties)

  20. Hunglyka

Whoever did the controls for Goldeneye on the switch needs sacking…..

  21. The3Three3Time3

I’m sure most people say it’s not emulation. That true. It’s the real games

  22. christobristo

I’m not so impressed tbh, I was getting frame rate drops on Mario 6 Golden Coins

  23. downonthesecond

There are so many classic GB, GBC, and GBA games that are out of reach for most if they want to play them legally without spending hundreds of dollars.

I just hope Nintendo actually releases new games every month and doesn’t continue to screw around with NSO.

  24. GodOfOnions2

I just wish they let you buy only 1 month of the premium expansion, I don’t want to buy a whole year for $60 CAD. But I probably will when they release more games, I got the expansion when the n64 on switch released, I barely played it, my fault!

  25. salazarcosplay

the elephant in the room, are they going to make Pokemon available? Why so much hesitency to include Pokemon.

  26. boxofstuff

I’m 39, so I skipped all the handhelds after Gameboy, now I’m really enjoying having all this new stuff to play.

  27. LoveChildOf3Tacos

I mean, my cousin got PSP, PS1, GameCube, Wii, Android, and more running on mine. Years ago…

If GBA is impressive, then you guys really need to see what is actually out there lol

  28. dryadofelysium

Kuru Kuru Kururin was my favorite GBA game ever, so I am happy that it was there on launch!

  29. stratusnco

wouldn’t this get your switch account banned? i’m sure nintendo is much harsh than playstation considering they have been letting people do emulation on the ps vita and psp for years.

  30. aruhen23

I really wish we had the option to buy these individually, especially with how great the emulation is. All i want is to replay Golden Sun 1-2 officially. As it is right now I’m effectively paying around 60$ to rent these two games.

That or add separate subscriptions were you can subscribe to the “GBA Channel” with NSO being the all in one package.

  31. Wario Ware Inc was one of my favourite ever games when I was younger. Still a brilliant game. I completed the main story in about an hour or so but the ‘thrilling’ mash up of games is so hard! My high score is 7 currently after about 20 attempts. I wish you had 3 lives for it not just one.

  32. Pixelarm_

If I keep repeating “Golden Sun” will it magically appear today? D:

  33. RonVitto

how opportunnity to play this classic games again..

  34. Three_Froggy_Problem

Does anyone else just adore the look of GBA games? There’s something about their sprite work that is just super distinctive for me and I find it so charming and visually pleasing.

  35. random125184

Is there really no couch coop for this? I don’t think that just because you needed to link 2 real GBAs 20 years should mean people should need 2 switch consoles to play together with someone in the same household today. Like nintendo really couldn’t have patched this in? Was it laziness or greed that caused this?
