Can we be honest about this game and OT1 and triangle strategy for a minute? The art style is so damn good and the music is so good in these games I don’t even care about the gameplay or story. Am I buying OT2? Yeah they had me with the pixel art.

I’m about 20 hours in and this game has SO MUCH more content than OT1! I quite enjoyed OT1 even with its flaws so it was really great that OT2 has a lot of QOL upgrades. My favorite so far being that characters interact more and travel banter can be accessed from the journal at any time. I also used to dislike the Hunter class and they really made it much funner with the meat preparation and trading to gain followers.
If you’re on the fence, I think you should play this one.

I purchased OTII as soon as it came out and I am delighted with it. I wish I could do more playtime, but I’m slowly working my way through the stories. Such a gem in terms of storyline, mystery, and graphics. I went with Osvald.

I’m about 60 hours into OT2. Very shocked at how most character stories turned out, many very twisted and dark endings. Bonus stories as well are a really nice addition, plus the writing is just better overall. Still working on finding the class combos I like the best.

I didn’t care for OT1, mostly the disconnected story at the time, and I never finished it. But I’ve broadened my horizon on JRPGs a lot over the last couple years and want to try this, is it connected to OT1 or is it independent? OT1 is still full price so if I can pay the same amount and just get two I want to.

I adored the first one and this one is even better.
It is, for the most part, 8 self-contained stories still. That is by design, but if you can set that aside they’re all fun little stories, and there is A LOT more travel banter for fun character interactions.
On the whole this very much could be my GotY. Early call, but this is one of my favourite JRPGs in a long time.

Loved the first one. Loving the sequel so far. Great games.

I truly think this game is phenomenal. I don’t think there’s a single aspect that Octopath 1 handled better. That’s everything from the travelers themselves, to the improvements to the combat to make characters more unique, to the design of the world map, to even things Octopath 1 did *really* well like the score.
If you truly hated 1, I don’t think there’s anything here to convert you, but if you even liked it even a bit, this one is a triumph.

How does the game run on Switch? Been debating whether to get this on Switch or PC.

Looks fun to me!

My only problem with the game is by god does it take forever to get the characters at first. Im like 10 hours in and i only just started the quests for your 4th traveler. I know you can skip all the intro chapters but i find that ruins the game for me.

I beat the first and somewhat enjoyed it. But I feel like it has hamstrung but the grindiness. Is that any better in this one?

If only it didn’t have random encounters

I’ll be honest, I was bored with the first Octopath game. However, my husband liked it, so I picked up the sequel for us when it released.
I have to say, even though they changed very, very little with it, I’m absolutely loving 2. We’ve been fighting each other for the switch to play it lol. It’s easily my game of the year so far. If you’re on the fence about it, please do give it a try.
It doesn’t require playing the first game in order to enjoy this one. I also like that the chapters make the game very easy to pick up and put down which is useful if you’re busy, playing mobile,
or just need to manage play time.

I’m ~48 hours in and have everyone at their Chapter 4 or 5 except Castii and Partitio (I started with Hikari). The stories for the characters are far and away more engaging than the first game.

So there is one thing I would like to know: While I did play through most of OT1, it felt kinda grindy to me due to having to make sure everyone gets leveled. Is the setup the same in this game or is it easier to make all characters keep up?

Beautiful game, love this HD-2D games trend, together with Octopath Traveler 1, Live a Live and Triangle Strategy

Tbh, I wasnt excited to play it, just started because of some recommendations and now that Im almost finishing the first game I have to say, this game is a masterpiece, both for gameplay and for the graphics. I can’t wait for the second one.

Too bad it’s not available with the voucher.
