I don’t like evolving my shinies until I get another one…but I also get laughed at sometimes for wanting a complete set 🤷♀️

Only you can answer this. Cool thing about POGO is that there is no right way to play. You need to decide if you want to catch them all, or catch and evolve.
Personally, wife and I both just went thru and evolved any shinies we didn’t have an evolution of already. Earned about 300k XP for Spotlight bonus, and put a dent in our Shiny Pokedex.

I’d evolve it and make it my mega blastoise. while the glasses fall of while he is mega evolved, he’s still gonna look sick as a shiny. and the glasses come back when the mega evolution is over

I traded my only shiny sunglasses squirtle with my mom! She adores him and told me to not give him to her, but he was a 2* when I had him and went up to 3* after we traded!
I’m sure this will get buried on the sea of comments, but personally, I know PoGo is a waiting game. All of the starters have a limed available move, and for water, they learn hydro cannon. The only way to get it for free is to evolve it during a special event. I know Hydro Cannon is an amazing move, and you would probably want it on a 3* mega blastoise.
If you really want it now, you can use an Elite charged TM to get hydro cannon, but those are pretty rare and not handed out often. A regular charged TM will never teach hydro cannon even if you try it during one of the previously mentioned events.
However, like some other people have said this is your game and your squirtle, so you can do whatever makes you happy. I know I care about limited moves, so I try to hold out for them for my pokemon with good stats.
