Gonna channel my inner Naomi (https://youtube.com/@naovalentine) for these next few videos hahaha. I want to fill the whole first page of my Gauntlet scorecard with duos that feature rivals. I don’t know if I’ll have the patience to reach 20, but I’m gonna try to do as many as I can.
Here are the first six duos I was able to complete. Here’s how each battle went and the sync grids used:
Vs. Latias: EX Wally / EX Elio – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=012200073000&s0=5&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=18050301&t0=44444&g0=AAECAwQFBggKDQ4ZGhscHyIlLw&v1=012800047500&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=18040502&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBgkTFRYXHB0gJS4vMDIzNA&v2=0
Annoyingly, when I was testing out this clear it only took me a few tries, but recording it took about as much time as recording the other five clears in this video lol. You’d think a clear that uses sleep would be easy, but there’s a lot of things that can go wrong with this that will just ruin the whole run. Thankfully best boy Wally and his best buddy Elio were able to push through in the end, getting all those lucky hits in Bar 3 even when Latias still had boosted evasion.
Vs. Moltres: EX Hugh / EX Lana – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=016000075200&s0=5&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=18040702&t0=44114&g0=AAECAwQFBgcKCw0PGhweHyImKSs&v1=014700062600&s1=3&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=18040502&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFERQXGBobKCstLw&v2=0
In contrast, testing out this clear was a real pain, but actually getting it for Gauntlet only took a few tries. Like a lot of Moltres clears that don’t change the weather, your success with this clear is pretty much dependent on how lucky you are with landing those flinches. Lana does give the team a breather with Wide Guard so that Hugh doesn’t have to worry about being burned, but even that is at the mercy of MPR. That said, Hugh’s sustain is fantastic for this clear as it means Lana doesn’t have to worry about her teammate going down before her.
Vs. Tapu Bulu: EX Marnie / EX Calem – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=000300067800&s0=2&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=44111&g0=AAECAwQFExYXGh4fICMmJygr&v1=024500087700&s1=4&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBhUWFxkcHiEiNA&v2=0
Getting Marnie to 4/5 opened up a lot of possible sync grid builds and potential teammates for her as she now doesn’t have to worry about relying on MPR to max her crit. I paired her up with Calem here for a more reliable paralysis proc, and thanks to his trainer move he tanks this stage pretty well. Getting those lucky flinches in Bar 2 was pretty nice too.
Vs. Latias: EX Shauna / Masked Royal – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=011700072700&s0=3&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=41111&g0=AAECAwQFFRcYGSMlKSorLi8&v1=013900065200&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=17010801&t1=4444&g1=AAECAwQFBgcKDRARFBcaGyYpLA&v2=0
I knew I was gonna use Shauna against Latias since Spiky Shield gives me a way to ignore Mud Slap. Her Psychic weakness does mean she has to be careful against both Latias and Alakazam, but thankfully Masked Royal makes short work of Alakazam with his super-effective hits. His Attack debuffs also mean that they can just shrug off that Bar 3 Earthquake, and Darkest Lariat gives the team a guaranteed way to decrease Latias’s evasion.
Vs. Moltres: EX Anniversary N / Lodge Raihan – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=025700052600&s0=3&l0=140&r0=4&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=11111&g0=AAECAwQFBgcTFhkaHB8iIyQ&v1=008901064300&s1=3&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=20010101&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBggKDRAYGxwdIC4v&v2=0
Had a lot of trial and error with this clear but the breakthrough was getting Adrenaline 1 from Anni N’s grid. It allowed me to have enough turns to sync before Moltres does in Bar 3. And as it turns out, leaving Moltres at -5 Sp Atk was a blessing since it gave me free turns in the transition from Bar 2 to Bar 3.Lodge Raihan tanked the fire bird like a champ and gave Anni N the space to stack his debuffs.
Vs. Tapu Bulu: EX Gladion / EX Holiday Jasmine – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=011302018100&s0=2&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=44411&g0=AAECAwQFERIUFxobHB4hIyYpKw&v1=011900077300&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13016403&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDhATFhklJy4&v2=0
Wanted to use Red against Latias so I paired Gladion with the other SEUN support. Holiday Jasmine has crazy bulk so this clear was pretty easy – I didn’t even have to reset for the lack of MPR procs. Something I learned from the smarter LA runners is that Tapu Bulu’s second bar is the least dangerous, so I deliberately took my time there to set up Gladion’s final sync.

Thank god the Guaranteed Cookies are Vigilance this time around. Very much worth it in short spurts.
Wait, did you get SS Diantha? That theme is marvellous. Can’t wait to see what you’ll do with her!
Also btw the desc grid link shows Lana with DC2, but I think she has Flameproof in the clear. It’s weird how she doesn’t have it innately, considering Water Bubble blocks burns
I love the Wally and elio duo it’s just perfect 😂
