Nintendo says they they are working hard to “provide more units” of Metroid Prime

In a recent article on Metroid Prime scalping, Nintendo tells Nintendo life:

” We will do everything we can to meet the strong demand for the product. Please continue to check with major retailers for availability. If the *Metroid Prime Remastered* game sells out at various retail locations in the U.S., we will work to provide more units as soon as possible. ”

I think it’s good to note that Nintendo has said nothing about this being a limited release. I think Nintendo got surprised by higher demand than expected.

    >I think Nintendo got surprised by higher demand than expected.

Also, the quick turnaround on the announcement to release.

Considering that the UK physical release is tomorrow, I’d fucking hope they’ve got more copies on the way

  3. NickLeMec

I hope this means Nintendo realizing they need to remaster the sequels as well

I got lucky and was able to reserve a copy a couple of days ago. I just have to pick it up in store soon (no shipping).

It will be interesting to see if this title ends up becoming the most succesful Metroid-title. Or if it will outsell the original.

Damm. Didnt knew this would be Hard to come by

Why do people in the US scalp the standard edition of a game? It’s so weird. I haven’t noticed a shortage in the EU so far.

Luckily my Amazon order moved up from end-of-April, to March 9, to today. Can’t wait!

Getting my copy tomorrow, just got an email with the notification. I am in The Netherlands though…. Godspeed to you all o7!

I got a call today from Gamestop saying my copy was ready for pickup, after missing the release window by a week. Nintendo absolutely thought people would just buy it digital and not scramble to find a physical copy lmao

Nintendo having to restock a Metroid game to meet popular demand? What timeline is this?

  12. couchstyle

Resellers trying to artificially inflate demand on something that will just restock. I remember when people were paying $80-90 for Animal Crossing on Amazon and I went to Target and got it for $60

  13. Walkingdistance_95

Gamestop by me last night had it. The walmart did not though.

  14. Scalpers should be fined twice the difference between the price they try to sell at and msrp

Seems they underestimated demand which is a good thing for us Metroid fans. Hopefully it leads to a full series remaster and the series to become a more common staple like other Nintendo series.

Ordered a hard copy from Best Buy this morning. Will be ready for pickup on Tuesday.

Im happy Metroid been on a roll, getting good overall praise and attention. This should put some drive towards MP4 and possibly “remastered” version of the other Prime games.

Just curious: what make the scalpers with this? Drive the prices up?

That means enough people are willing to pay that price, right? (Guess the same was true for the PS5 plus the semiconductor shortage?)

So everyone who is buying at this price adds fuel to the fire because this people can’t wait?

Bonus question: if someone absolutely can’t wait; why not buy digital and later buy physical (if collector or something like that)?

I literally stopped playing Harry Potter for this. No questions asked. I’m almost done. I really hope they remaster at least Metroid prime 2. They are so good still

Eggs and Metroid primes the new currency In This economy

  21. ThatPvZGuy

Seems like good news for Metroid as a franchise at least. Maybe they’ll finally realize that people really like this IP.

  22. shrek3onDVDandBluray

For all the love I have for Nintendo, they sure do conduct business like they are some independent start up company.

  23. YamadaDesigns

What about Tears of the Kingdom preorders, we need more of the collectors edition

  24. sideaccountguy

I wonder if the physical demand was way higher due the good reception from the media and people or if they really thought the game was not going to sell that well knowing how Metroid game usually sell.

Either way It was funny to read yesterday on twitter a person saying “why Nintendo didn’t print more copies of the game if Metroid it’s one its most popular franchises they have” lmao I wish it was.

  25. DietCokeGamer

I told folks scalpers would do this and I got downvoted for it, even after explaining Scalpers would remember Metroid Prime Trilogy. lol

  26. autonomousfailure

I hope nobody’s stupid enough to buy from scalpers. Hold off and make them lose money and time.

  27. media_guru

They misjudged the demand – in a good way, at least.
