It looks like Towers are not in the game? Or at least one of the towers in botw wasn’t there in the gameplay video from today.

Really like the new brighter and warmer lighting, glad they were able to do more fancy stuff with the visuals now that they are no longer bound by the wiiu.
This is gonna look really nice on the oled.

Really excited by everything. So the map could be the same does that matter? It looks like the story and gameplay is going to be a lot different. Set in some sort of post apocalyptic Hyrule where there are new enemies, you craft your own weapons and which have sky areas.
BOTW is probably the best game I have ever played, much prefer it over the dungeon Zeldas. I can understand people wanting the same linear dungeon Zelda’s as they have had in the past, over the free roam of BOTW as a preference, it is at least understandable. But I don’t think reusing some maps is worthy of the criticism.
But I just loved the free roam, loved how there were several ways to complete the same objectives and that looks even better now.

The new gameplay looks fun to me, but I’m not going to Day 1 this like I did BOTW. I miss the old Zelda formula and if there aren’t dungeons, then I’m not sure I’ll be buying many Zelda games in the future as this seems to be their new format for the series. A game doesn’t have to be an open world sandbox to be amazing. There was nothing wrong with the series before and upending it to be devoid of story just doesn’t sit right with me.

Initial thoughts are I wish the map was completely new. Best part of this game for me was exploration, so the old map can feel a bit samey and won’t have the same sense of wonder. Especially for us folks who played BOTW very recently.
But I’ll wait for the reviews, can’t say now how they have changed it.

Please stop prematurely calling map the same. We still haven’t played the game to make such statements. We do not know the area of the cloud islands, or other changes of the familiar landscape. We don’t know if there will be dungeons. We know nothing about the game except that BotW set the bar extremely high, and Nintendo, like no other, knows how to surprise both in a good and bad way.
We’ll know everything in a little more than a month and I’m sure the game will be outstanding. I bought Switch in january 2018, BotW was my first game and it blew me away. I don’t remember anything about the map, so even if TotK repeats it one by one, I will still enjoy it

Wow I thought this game was lower in technical quality, but is way more complex and with better technical quality, even though they reduced the draw distance and far away animations frames.

Love it. The new mechanics are awesome. Especially the fuse mechanism. It unlocks a wide variety of gameplays.

Copium thread.

I’m kinda pissed that the music/sounds (like the chime when you obtain a new item ) are the same. I’ve played too much of BOTW and not sure another 200 hours of hearing the horse stable music is what I was hoping for

If a Mario Odyssey sequel used the same levels but added new enemies and mechanics we’d be up in arms.
I’m not going to pretend like this is cool. Yes the new abilities look fun, and obviously the floating islands will be new to explore. But the majority of the play space is reused with little change.
I’m still holding out hope for some kind of major world changing event in the game.
Razor_a7x
It looks great, it will play great. I will buy it and enjoy it greatly.
I’ve been a die hard Nintendo fan since forever, even defending them after Wii Music.
But like Splatoon 3, for now it looks like it could have been DLC for the previous game.

Tears should be a sequel like Majora’s Mask was… Same engine, shared assets but different world.
DrSeafood
Have some faith. Yakuza used the same (much smaller) map for like six games, and they managed to keep each entry fresh. Zelda has done it too, with LTTP and ALBW. Granted these aren’t perfect analogies, but I think it’s strong enough grounds to remain cautiously optimistic for TOTK.
akeep113
i’m ok with the map being mostly the same to BOTW as long as there is a ton of sky island and cave areas
firewood010
I am actually curious how the same map would look different.
Bright_Pangolin_5374
I mean I don’t mind the map being the same since it’s literally a direct sequel in the same world and stuff. Like the ending of BOTW set up for it even with that last zelda and link scene.
RhymesWith_DoorHinge
Map looks virtually identical to me. Some things have been removed, some things have a structure or two tacked on, but the geography appears to be generally unchanged. Huge bummer.
ENTRAPM3NT
$70 for a dcl eh
ITS_SPECTER
Is no body gonna mention that the map looks bigger?
Fern-ando
It looks exactly the same.
Zeik188
The map is probably similar, and that’s to be expected.
But I think we should wait for the game to actually come out to see if we should really be upset at HOW similar.
ilikepie145
Looks exactly the same
lazava1390
It could have all the gameplay coolness but if no dungeons, no buy lol. I can’t stand the shrines they introduced. I want big dungeons and big memorable boss battles.
blackandwhitetalon
I’m still going do buy it, dont get me wrong, but I dont understand the bump in price to $70 USD….. they’re reusing soooo many assets + the same engine etc
