TOTK OLED Switch confirmed!!
razza1987
The game looks phenomenal. The fuse and ascend abilities are unreal.
The Zelda switch oled is beautiful as well
triumphhforks
people are gonna come up with so many cool machines and strange weapons

The new mechanics look great and there seems to be quite a bit of new stuff to explore. Should be a great game.

The possibilities are really intriguing.
But, I’m the kind of person that finds crafting to be a bit exhausting. In the same way I wasn’t a fan of having to decorate my entire island in New Horizions, I can’t say I’m excited to build all of my weapons.
Resource collecting is tedious, and it looks like we’ll have to farm a lot in order to make the “good weapons.”
Kind of a pain to have to build a boat in this game when Revali’s Gale could have gotten me across the same little lake.
Half-BloodPrincesss
Wow, this looks outstanding! I’m so impressed that it looks like they managed to make the game more accessible for those who don’t like combat without diminishing the challenge or excitement

It doesnt seem like a huge leap in anything from BOTW. And honestly, I’m not sure that it needed to be. More of the same thing that worked with improvements on top of it.
Also, looking at this game, zero excuse for Pokémon scarlet and violet.

No Mr. Aonuma. 10 minutes was not enough

Seeing a weapon break: FUCK IT’S BACK
Aonuma immediately fuses it with a rock: WHAT THE FUCK

I wonder how big creations can get and if we can save blueprints. My high expectations have me set on a flying boat house. This Link shall not be a hobo he shall travel to world with roof and bed.
superior_anon
Looks good. Showing a dungeon would have gone a long way though.

The magic hand from the trailers being Nintendo’s Ultra Hand toy from the 1960s is not something I was prepared for.
MysteriousBebsi
God I can’t wait to see what people are going to make.
nintendo_nerd64
Man they just really went deep on the Zelda sandbox thing eh?
ismelladoobie
The amount of Speedrun flexibility this game will create is fucking insane, I am beyond excited just to watch some folks break the game on day one.
DAce1504
so you’re telling me I could build my owne castle..
AirbendingScholar
The lack of extreme culling, lagging, or loading zone between sky and land was so jarring after watching all the janky bullet time BOTW speedruns, but very welcome! The game seems much more optimized this time around

So its the legend of garrys mod now?

Loving the new gameplay mechanics and that dive off the island at the end was awesome. I’ll be honest though and say I’m also a little torn.
The new gameplay mechanics look incredibly cool, but I’m a little confused as to why Nintendo are being so secretive about the story and about whatever the equivalent of dungeons/shrines are.
I hope I’m worrying for no reason, but I feel new gameplay mechanics and a modified version of BotW’s Hyrule might not be enough to get me crazily hooked for hours upon hours. BotW set a really high bar lol.

I think this is gonna be a great game but man is it not the type of game I’m particularly looking forward to. A lot of the crafting/creativity stuff doesn’t appeal to me and I will be disappointed if those features come at the expense of more traditional Zelda elements.

Am I the only one that misses story driven linear adventure like in the classic Zelda games? This is cool and all, but as someone who’s free time is rapidly decreasing with age , I miss the adventures akin to TP , WW, or MM….
gorgon_heart
God, this looks so cool. I’m so excited. It seems the developers were given a lot of freedom to just have fun and I think the game will really benefit from it.

Everyone is focusing on the crafting mechanics, but I am looking at small details we can see during gameplay:
– The new abilities from Link’s weird arm have been moved to the L button, whereas Sheikah Slate abilities were previously on the D-pad up button.
– Replacing the Sheikah Slate on the D-pad up button is an apple icon. I assume this is the main item inventory shortcut Mr. Aonuma was using to pull up to fuse items together.
Some interesting things in the mini map:
– There what look to be some kind of coordinates at the bottom of the mini-map. It’s three numbers, so I think this is probably latitude, longitude, and elevation. The third number is low when Link is on the ground and much higher while on a sky island, so elevation makes since. Latitude/Longitude could seemingly be identical for a point where a sky island is directly over land, so adding elevation makes since.
– It certainly seems like shrines are returning in some capacity. At many points on the mini map you can see a very similar icon to the blue completed shrine icon, but the shape is different and more rounded.
– There is a new icon on the mini map in addition to the blue “shrine” icon. Looks like a little hut and they usually had a checkmark next to them, probably indicating it has been explored. It’s kind of subtle, so probably not anything major. Seems subtle in the way found koroks appeared on the map in BOTW, but I don’t believe those appeared on the mini map.
– I’ve also noticed a new yellow icon in a similar style to the BOTW icons used for stables, villages, shops, etc. It looks like a battery. This could be some kind of recharge point for objects used in crafting, since the fans had limited battery power.
– The final mini map item I noticed is a light blue circle, similar in color of the substance that binds items. Maybe this is the indication of where Link has left a crafted vehicle?
A funny observation: the weather meter seemed to be nothing but sunshine. Mr. Aonuma clearly hates rain too and requested a sunshine-only demo version.
Rodentia-Nullified
This is like the ultimate over correction on Nintendo’s part in an amazingly awesome way!
BOTW FANS: cooking is fun and all, but you can’t craft anything!? What’s going on nintendo???
NINTENDO: HERE, ATTACH ANYTHING TO EVERYTHING, FUSE ANYTHING WITH ALL OF IT, NOW SHUT UP AND GO SAVE ZELDA

Crafting is just not my Tea man. Ugh. 😢
Nitrogen567
Man I wish they’d shown off dungeons.
I just really want dungeons, each with their own unique item in them.
For me, the best part about the vehicle crafting is that it seems largely avoidable.

It’s worth noting that ultrahand is also basically magnesis for non-metal objects. It’ll be so much easier to move things around.

I just want to know if they revamped the dungeons. I felt like BoTW had a great overworld but lost out on the puzzle solving and progression of past LoZ games. ToTK is in the perfect position to give us the perfect legend of zelda game by just taking BoTW’s engine and spending more time on the dungeons and the story.
I wish we got to see that instead of what he did show off, even though what was shown was cool in it’s own right.
jayslashsoobin
i don’t fully know how to feel about them using the same map (with the added islands, ofc). either it’s gonna make me feel nostalgic or it’s gonna get me bored. i think this was a bit underwhelming, so i’m really hoping for some good story to compensate! but of course, Link having his hair down will make me buy the game anyway
PG-Noob
Zelda crossed with Gary’s mod… defo interesting take and it’s cool to see Nintendo is pushing boundaries of the game.
However, all I wanted and needed to see is a dungeon, which we didn’t see, so can’t say I’m super hyped. At the end of the day, I do want to play Zelda when playing Zelda – not gmod

Am I wrong for not liking the Fuse ability ??
