it looks so good, but I keep hearing I should play the first and second one before playing this. But can’t find any physical copies of those games that aren’t like $70

Just ordered my copy through GameStop. Can’t wait to play it. I loved the 1st one and skipped on the 2nd title. Hopefully it won’t be too confusing. Lol

The reception to Ryza 3 has been far better than what I personally expected for an Atelier game (Admittedly, I’m new to Atelier so I may have the wrong idea about this)
I need to actually finish Sophie 2 and get started on Ryza in general

These games are all EXTRAORDINARILY similar. Like, even moreso than Pokémon. I burnt out at Sophie 2 after playing ryza, ryza 2 and then sophie. Like, you craft the same items from the start again each time, characters always the same archetypes etc etc.
Just offering this as a counterpoint to people going crazy about these games. They’re fun in a junk food sort of way I guess, at least to me.

I cannot for the life of me get into AR2 even though I loved the first one. The translation/localization seems noticeably worse, the “dungeon crawling” and puzzle-y aspects feel really poorly done and overly complicated, and combat feels worse, plus I feel no connection to the characters unlike how that aspect unfolds in the first one. I wonder if I should just skip to 3…
