It’s helps that Mario is one most recognizable characters on the planet and Mario franchise begin one of highest grossing media franchises of all time. Happy to see it!

I saw it yesterday. I almost never go to the movies. I took my wife and kids too. Everyone had a blast. Is it a good movie? Not particularly. But is it a fun movie? Absolutely! There are so many Easter eggs in practically every scene. The humor is fine and the action is fun. It’s just a really fun time at the movies.

Wow this is as good of a first movie from Nintendo you could ever ask for, I hope this is the start of a bunch of Nintendo movies!

Now do Zelda, together with studio Ghibli

Isn’t it not even out in Japan yet?

Wow i suppose sales and quality are definitely not related

I really hope they aren’t stuck in some contract with Illumination. Illumination might work for Mario, Kirby, even Star Fox. But they need to branch for a more serious story with Zelda. A beautiful 2D action film or maybe…just maybe…if done perfectly well, a love action movie with a good studio.

Good on them, hopefully they can improve with the criticisms from this movie and make the sequel perfect.

I was going to see it but my gf purchased tickets for the day before by mistake so we ended up doing something else. But something I liked was seeing all the kid’s dressed as Mario Luigi and peach and being so excited

    Heartwarming

  10. Not surprising. Nearly every kid will want to see it since it’s animated and Nintendo fans will go see it multiple times.

The plot of Mario games isn’t exactly complex so not sure why the movie would be?

I didn’t think I would enjoy this as much as I did, but it was just a generally fun movie. My kid really enjoyed it and that made it worth it.

I just got out of it and I can kinda understand why some people aren’t liking it at much, it is absolutely made for Mario fans. Not just “they made a lot of references to Mario stuff” no, they full on recaptured moments from my childhood here, they didn’t just reference a level or an enemy, they fully conveyed the feelings you got the first time you encountered them, or the 100th time you had to repeat a difficult section. That’s what makes it incredible to the right audience but a little inaccessible to the wrong one.

You go to see Mario movie because the videogame not because the mushroom kingdom is going to provide an Inception level of narrative. General Audience rated the movie A or 96% so critics reviews are worthless if they aren’t coming from gamers reviews.

A good start to set up the Super Smash Universe

It IS beating Disney! Those clickbait titles actually had a point for once!
