That’s nice, I played this one on the Vita back when it released there. It’s basically a hack-and-slash dungeon crawler with six different characters (IIRC). You could also explore parts of Tokyo, talk with a bunch of classmates at school, and play some mini-games. Kind of a watered-down Yakuza or Persona in some ways, but the main focus is definitely the action RPG loop which I imagine many will find too repetitive. It **is** pretty repetitive, and since I recall nothing at all about the story I guess that was nothing to write home about either. (It was very anime, kids saving the city from some supernatural threat, etc.) But overall I recall finding it pleasant enough in its simplicity, and a lot of the flavor text (when exploring the city) was pretty funny.

Let’s hope for English on cart or a western release.

I played the heck out of the Japanese release on the vita, despite not knowing the language, then bought the English version and played that. More than happy to purchase on the RPG MACHINE, I mean switch.

Hoping for persona 3 and 4 physical release please Atlus

Played this on PC a while back
Pretty underrated game. Even Falcom fans these days generally focus on Trails and Ys and don’t really pay much attention to this
Oh and Towa is in it. More Towa is always good

But the odds of the Switch version coming out in the West/in English is probably low due to the licensing situation

I played this on my PS4 and it is a LOT of fun, and it’s always on sale too. Highly recommend

  6. Playing this on steam makes me think it’d be perfect on handheld. However would you be able to transfer steam save to NS version? I don’t want to restart everything.

I really didn’t enjoy this game at all.

It’s not very much like the old Xanadu games and tries way too hard to ape persona with a lot of boring social link and high school drama. The gameplay is also very mindless and super repetitive. If I looked up “mediocre” in the dictionary I’d find a picture of this game…it’s not offensive or bad or whatever, just really boring to play. This mixed with the game having no identity due to stripping the series’ own and injecting persona stuff in to chase that crowd makes for a bad time; it doesn’t feel like a Xanadu game and I’m not even really sure why it has that name. They could have called the game, “Teenage Misadventures in the Modern Age” or whatever and nothing would change 🤷‍♂️

If you don’t like persona I’d stay away from this game. If you liked the old Xanadu games I’d stay far away, because it’ll just be a very disappointing experience.

I wish that Falcom would release an updated Xanadu game in the world’s similar to Xanadu Next or Faxandu. This modernized story is simply not something an older action RPG, hack, and slash gamer wants at all in one humble opinion.

  9. I like this game on PC. Hope it releases for western too so I can have all of my favourite and liked games on one console

  10. I played it on psvita, it was a pretty good game.

  11. Samoman21

Not a bad game. Story was interesting and characters were fun. Has a bit like Ys combat where every. Monster is weak to one of the 3 types you. Bring along. So pick 3 people you like most and never change them out lol. The post game story annoyed me personally. Shit was soooooo long. But overall it’s one of the few jrpg I actually sat down and finished lol.

  12. LaMystika

    I like the cover art.

I’ve only played the Vita version so I’ve never seen the eX+ content… but I don’t think this is going to get a western release, so I should probably see if the PS4 or PC versions are on sale. Even though I played this game on handheld originally. Oh well.

  13. This looks interesting, but is it really Xanadu without Olivia Newton-John?

  14. Chance-Team-37

Looks like some painfully generic shit

  15. noncompliantandaware

Solid game. I’d consider it underrated. Might pick this up if it ever gets an asian english release or something. Only ever played the base version on Vita.

  16. Barrel_Titor

Underrated. I played the PS4 version, fun urban fantasy vibe, fun dungeons and fun combat. Not amazing at anything but couldn’t find anything to dislike.

  17. ShiftyShaymin

Hell yes! This was a game on my port wishlist. Really love that Falcom has embraced the Switch as a platform worth putting everything on. Their games are just plain fun.

  18. It’s the “I played all the Trails of Cold Steel games but I want more, just not bad enough to go back to the pixely ones, and I *guess* if it’s on sale…” title. It’s generic anime plot to the point it even has episode opening songs built in to each story chapter. Writing definitely is some 6/10 quality, at least some of which I’m fairly sure is a localization issue (uneven voice between scenes, some odd background dialogue, etc. that all look like multiple TL teams that couldn’t communicate.)

Play ToCS instead. Get Xanadu eX+ if it’s on sale or if you find yourself getting sucked into the Falcom games.

    LEEETTTSSS FUCCCKING GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  20. Vaderof4

I have this on my PS5 external drive, but I know I’ll never play it on that, because on a huge 4K TV the simpler graphics are just meh, but through it on an OLED 7 inch and I’m down.

  21. Easy_Decision2486

Personally I found this game to be very bland. I you want Persona, well, just play Persona. If you want Falcom, there are Trails and Ys.

  22. aruhen23

It’s basically a Y’s game set in a modern setting with some lite Persona elements. Pretty fun game overall.

  23. DarknessInferno7

Makes sense. Played it on PS4 as a Vita port. It’s very comparable to Cold Steel 1/2.

Personally, I have nothing good to say about the narrative, unfortunately. However, I had a blast with the combat, to the point that I remember wishing that Trails played like that. Some fights were pretty hype.
