While I, rather impatiently, await Coral Island hitting the Switch, this looks promising. If the gameplay is solid then this could scratch that farm sim itch. I just hope it has a living market and prices of goods change based on scarcity.

Haven’t really played any except Pioneers of Olive Town on Switch – that got well over 100 hours of my life, which I enjoyed, despite it having many things that just seemed unfinished or unnecessarily left-out. Felt small, unrefined, etc.
But if they’re moving in a more open-world, could be cool. Played A LOT of Rune Factory 5 and My Time at Portia, personally, and each one feels like it gets a lot right, with their own spins on things, where they each center on a different aspect. He’s y on the farming is nice, but then if they’re going to put other stuff in, it’s nice to have it feel completed, you know?
Strange seeing what seems like relatively high production value but completely lifeless and emotionless characters.
Every recent harvest moon Was a massive let down.

Now is this the Harvest Moon, Harvest Moon? Or is this the fake company that stole the Harvest Moon name after the real Harvest Moon became Story of Seasons?
I hate this brand now that it has this stupid split.
Imagine if they instead decided to go the route or Stardew Valley. They would have a money cow right there. I can’t understand how they keep pumping out these terrible games
The screenshots look quite nice. I know this sounds stupid but I’ve always wanted Animal Crossing to move on from its Wild World camera and have something like this with more gameplay mechanics and places to explore. Just some more engaging gameplay.
I’d love this to be that game. But sadly this isn’t the actual good Harvest Moon devs and these games haven’t been that good lately. And if this runs badly – even if it’s expands – I don’t see it doing well.
That said i’m intrigued. If it has taken some inspiration from BOTW i’d say that’s a good thing. Pokemon Arceus was great for taking this inspiration for sure

Don’t give a shit about modern Harvest Moon. I’d rather play Story of Seasons, the real Harvest Moon.
I gave Natsume *3* chances starting with 3DS games once the whole Story of Seasons-Harvest Moon split happened. The post split HM games reused a bunch of their own characters including some marriage candidates, and the games felt kind of lifeless for me.
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town wasn’t the absolute best – I think I liked the 3DS ones better tbh – but it was still much better than the Natsume Harvest Moon games for me.
Remember: Harvest Moon is nothing but a name at this point. The team is doing Story of Seasons now. But honestly, I don’t like the new ones either. They just look like android games and lack all of the Charme. I wish we’d get a new, real, old school Harvest Moon with a real budget and polish. The Harvest Moon version of Animal Crossing New Horizons.
So it’s still just screenshots, but it feels rather… lifeless? As in a large world and space, but not much to do. The art style and character design (and animal designs) I absolutely dig. But given the core gameplay is going to remain the same, I think making it *too* big is going to make it a slog.
I hated HM One World. It was nothing like the original games and was shit. I couldn’t get into it.
I love the HM and SOS games. They are usually such relaxing games but One World gave me headache 😂😂
It’s too bad Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons are such crap. Everyone says SOS is better than HM these days, which, sure it is, but it’s still pretty low effort on the devs’ part. They’ve used the same bland art style for like 20 years and the games are a huge slog that don’t respect your time. They are a chore thanks to clunky menus and slow farming animations. The playable character is performing chores but the player should be having fun.
I wish they could borrow some QOL changes from Stardew Valley and inject them into a new harvest moon game that had inspired art design and writing.
Not optimistic about future HM games. Recently did a video essay on what HM has become after Natsume and Marvelous Entertainment split… tl;dr get the new Story of Seasons coming out in June B)

I had my hopes up but then remembered that story of seasons is the IP we have nostalgia for.
I actually don’t mind who owns who as long as the game is great. Story of Seasons has fallen so low now, they have lost their touch.

Looks better Natsume’s past attempts, but I am just gonna wait for the remake of Its Wonderful Life later this year instead.
I’m willing to give this one a try, unless the gameplay ends up looking shallow or boring. …Is it just me, or do the main characters look kind of stiff though?
I can’t wait for the games trailer to release, really am impressed that natsume took in the critique, focused on making the game look visually appealing cute and alive not like new world – will admit new world had some interesting concept it just needed to be worked on a bit more, they shouldn’t have release it in the state it did because if they would have taken their time the games lands, graphics wouldn’t look so dull and dead.
But gosh, just seeing the screenshot from another website first made me so giddy about it, now I do hope they do add animals around the land and not leave it with just pretty grass like that, fairly they are games that are like this too..but still some npcs would be good to have around and also it would be sweet to add more clothing options not too much but just right.
Further more it’s adorable how natsume still celebrates the anniversary of the franchise its quite wholesome of them to be doing so and not being bitter by starting arguments or screeching at the customers or story of seasons developers team – I adore that they both are doing their own thing and are trying there best as a company in whole. I still am gonna continue to play harvest moon games and see how the progression goes with them ♡♡, hopefully they can reach Japan too.
I’ve lost a lot of faith and hope in the Harvest Moon series since the mid 2000’s when they kicked the original team off it.
People would be far better looking into the Story of Seasons games. That’s the OG Harvest Moon team. Natsume were absolutely b*stards about the whole thing….
Friends of Mineral Town is a far better experience and they’re remastering It’s A Wonderful that’s due out later this year.
