And people wonder why I have been pissed that it took 6 years to get here if you are in the UK?

I was refused repair when just out of warranty by Nintendo, did it myself and since have been unable to send to Nintendo as it is no longer “original” when the replacements have the same inevitable issue after a year or 2.

I do not see Nintendo as the good guys here, they are doing the minimum they have to without getting legal problems.

Nintendo Europe already offered free repairs for this, so unless Nintendo is confusing the EU and Europe thinking the UK left Europe I don’t see a reason whh they wouldn’t offer repairs

Switzerland too, don’t know why you left it out when you included UK in the title

US here, I was just trying like hell to clean one of mine to get it working better, but no luck. Then I said, screw it and banged it on the countertop three times, right on the joystick, works great now.

  5. It is hard to believe Nintendo is allowed to sell these consoles like nothing is going on. I already replaced my sticks 5 times.

While my 15 yo XBox controller is still being used on my PC – no drift at all. Something is not right.

This is good, but why haven’t they fixed the issue to begin with? The system is nearing the end of its life and it’s still a thing, why?

Also, is it an issue with the switch lite too?

why not just… redesign them to not be complete garbage? def avoiding next console after 3 pairs being junk. should have came with the pro

  8. draxhell

    I’m taking it as a « switch 2 soon » announcement

They shouldn’t be allowed to sell products with these major defects, Nintendo should’ve tested their products better.

Something tells me, that Nintendo will not want to go through this Joycon drift issue again (to this extent).

All of my controllers have drifting issues. The one set of Joycons, and the two wired controllers. The left Joycon is the worst culprit, and I have to reset it all the time.

I don’t have a switch but thinking of getting one. Is this an issue between a certain serial number range or over the entire production run? Is there a model I shouldn’t get?

My ps5 controller started drifting 9 months after i bought it.. I brought it down to the gamestop where got it and they refused to replace it.. Went back the next day and mentioned both Irish ans European consumer law and got a replacement instantly.. Drift (Nintendo joy cons or any other type of controller) is not on you it’s a fault on the manufacturers end, they are OBLIGATED to get you a replacement in the most comvinent way for you.. Good Nintendo is finally making it easier on the consumers end though

Reminder that the switch is perfectly capable of using any Bluetooth controller but Nintendo limits you to using theirs (the worst official controllers on the market) so they don’t have to compete

Had two of my controllers sent in for drift repair. Initially seemed better but drift came back in a couple months

Isn’t this 6 years late? But welcome nonetheless

This is going to be a major issue when the next system is announced. Hall effect joycons will be the reason whether I buy the next system or not. I’m not going through with wasting money on defective controllers again.

They quoted me like £30 to fix my og in warranty switch controller and wanted me to send the whole unit to them so I couldn’t even play for however long a repair takes. I caved and got a new controller. Shite.

What’s going on with controller manufacturing now? Even my PS5 controller has drift. It’s getting frustrating

My first set of joycon started to drift after like, a year and a half i think? I got it originally at smash and noticed like 2 or 3 months into acnh. I cleaned it with electrical contact spray but after a while I gave up and replaced them with new joysticks, not because of drift but because of their really loose cruddy feeling.

Later, I bought some extra joycon, A purple/orange pair in 2022 and haven’t seen anything happen with them so far. They are my main pair of joycon but not my main controller for the system. I did notice the purple/orange have slightly different codes on the back of them compared to a friend’s zelda set and my originals from 2018.

Meanwhile, in south Africa Nintendo still charge people to repair drift hopefully the successor of the switch will have a better overall build quality.

  22. JahEthBur

My two sets of OG Joy-Cons are terrible to use anymore.

  23. TheChainTV

Only time I get drift is tilting it to hard.. and sometimes it breaks

  24. ok, but will microsoft do the same for my xbo controllers?
