Well.
We knew this was coming.
Yeah I’ve done a Stevening video in the past but consider that one the unofficial one cause only four alts of him were available at the time. Ever since then, I was seated for the fifth Steven alt to drop and seeing only only the fifth but SIXTH alt coming out, I knew I had to redo that video again.
This video is the official Stevening video now as it showcases all six Stevens.
It’s fairly obvious that I like Steven Stone. But why so? There’s a couple reasons.
First, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were the first pokemon games I beat as a kid. Steven was the first champion I beat and defeating him with my overleveled Gardevoir and Swampert brought me so much joy as a kid. Plus, his Champion theme is my favorite one out of all the Champions. I was pleasantly surprised that he was in Pokemon White 2 when I faced off against him in the Pokemon World Tournament.
Secondly, the Pokemon Adventures manga! My library had the full Hoenn arc and I got to read it. To keep it brief, Pokemon Adventures is retelling and reinterpretation of the games with the main protagonists having much more agency and their own stories and goals. I won’t spoil the Hoenn arc, but I really like the role Steven got to play in the manga. They even adapted the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games as a sort of alternate timeline within the magna universe as well.
But back to Pokemon Masters EX. He was the first limited five star and banner I pulled when I began playing the game. Steven and all of his units have been a mixed bag. He’s got a super strong top tier alt, a really good “I can’t believe it’s not a support” tech alt, decent summer alt, a good trainer lodge alt, and a controversial Master Fair. But, as someone who plays faves over meta, I work around all of this.
Very off topic, but I just realized that if you have the same name duo on your champion team it’ll pull a unit from the previous team to sub in on the podium. So seeing Anni Skyla on the podium confused me for a moment.
