Pokemon Go announced their season 10: Rising Heroes. This coincides with the new season of GO Battle League. There are no move updates of consequence. Learn how to win go battle league and hit legend with this channel.
This week there are 4 active leagues. Great League, Ultra League, Master League, and Evolution Cup. Evolution Cup: Great League Edition is a 1500CP league where only pokemon that have evolved at least once and can evolve again will be eligible.

what pokemon would you recommend to build for this cup that can also have solid play in open GL or limited metas? maybe zweilous?

I'm intrigued by this cup. Then I start figuring out the stardust costs of powering up these middle evolutions and Great League starts looking better and better.

The meta is dragon, normal and ghost.
Ice/steel vs dragons does loose vs the fighters and ice punch ghost.
Ghost? Dark as counter? Well you loose vs the fighters again and dragon fighters.
Fairy would be very good as you said but there are just none and florett… Well… I don't see it tbh

Great analysis Dan! This is one of my favorite GL Cups, and I will be playing it. One note, Haunter is half poison, so it will take SE damage from Vig's Bulldoze, and lose in the 1 shield (probably bait dependent). Thank you as always!
I’ll give the evo cup a try. I remember it last season I think. Vig should have been banned lol it was on every team just about last time.
What about Lampent? Not sure how well Fire will do overall, but I think is strong vs Ice.
Charjabug beats Vigoroth in the 1s if you use Bug Bite. It also wins in the 0s with Spark. I think it’s a solid pick.

OGL mostly with some ML. UL battles take too much time to complete. Don't want to learn cup metas or build new pokemon.

I used haunter dragonair golbat last time and it was pretty dominant excited to run it again
Chansey does not have counter, believe you meant wobuffet.
Thank goodness it doesn't, because it would have a total of 5 losses in the great league (avg of 0/1 equal shield scenarios)
The day Niantic gives Chansey literally anything else than takedown and zen headbutt it's over for GBL

I'm very interested to see how Togetic with Extrasensory/Ancient Power/X does. Also interested in Datrix with Brave Bird, though he's pretty boom/bust.

My (secret) first lineup will be Bug Bite Charjabug lead, Zweilous and Vigoroth. Big hint: Bug Bite Charjabug picks up Vig AND Zweilous! Close loss to Golbat, who I think will run off if they lead.
I plan on playing Great League. Evolution Cup is not a Cup I wanna play as it has to be evolved once.

Hello Dan, i'm going with piloswine, machoke, and my MVP (for now) shadow Ursaring ( Shadow claw, close combat and play rough). Keep up the good work.
I will personally be avoiding this cup but it looks like a lot of fun! I do prefer my master league. 200+ points in 2 days with Ho-oh, Reshiram, Zekrom. 2844. Legend soon!
Having played 11 sets in Evolution cup
DO NOT USE TEAM 3 [golbat, hakamo, piloswine]. you will get wiped out by vigoroth, golbat teams.
Charabug teams are good [i beat one, lost to two] due to their bulk.
Brionne has no STAB for charm so it is not as good as you think.
In any case, my elo went from 1998 down to 1946 thanks to lack of bulk.
