Same exact thing happened to be as well! I also got a shiny on my second Inkay!
It’s not often Niantic says sorry, but when they do, you get a shiny Inkay.

A got a hundo from it instead. Though I never claimed it when I finished it for the first time…
I was so confused why everyone was upset about this. I’d be down for a reset on this easy research, get double the rewards? How is that bad? This example proves my point, that’s awesome you got a shiny.
