The real question is not if they’ll make another nintendo movie, but how many. Just a sequel to mario, or are we going to get a MCU style slate where we get zelda, kirby, donkey kong, metroid, mario, etc every year or so.

Animal Crossing movie about Freckles and Sherb as they arrive at a deserted island and build a thriving community, interacting with humans and other animals who soon arrive, embracing their differences. Yeah there’s a big gap between “Nintendo is too protective of their IPs don’t expect much” people and “Nintendo is going to greenlight a whole cinematic universe in a week” types. They established a movie division for a reason. I would be shocked to see them start churning out movies quickly but I also wouldn’t be shocked to see production rumors pick up steam at a relatively steady pace over the next year.

Would Kirby actually work as a movie? Realistically Kirby feels like he would be the silent protagonist.
On one hand, it is my favorite Nintendo franchise, but on another hand, I’m used to him not being able to talk, so it would be really weird to have him talk if they did a movie based on his series. I don’t know if he could actually be done right by being made able to talk. But at least you could very easily make other Kirby characters like King Dedede be able to talk though. Maybe even the waddle dees could talk, since there are some such as Sailor Dee from Meta Knight’s crew that actually do have dialogue in the games.
I’m sure you would remember the anime Kirby had in the 2000s, Kirby: Right Back at Ya. Honestly, I didn’t really like that anime, mainly because Kirby did not even feel like the show’s main character and was being portrayed like a toddler that needed to be bossed around by others. Kirby isn’t like that at all in the games. If he is to be handled in a movie, then he should be able to fend for himself like he is in the games.
What would a plot be like? Considering I would see it as an alternate universe from the Kirby games, I think the plot of a Kirby movie being an amalgamation of plots from a few Kirby games. I guess for example they could maybe somehow combine the plots of the original Kirby’s Dreamland and Kirby’s Adventure for a movie plot.

I can’t believe the amount of people who want a Nintendo cinematic universe after marvel stagnating proves that people are getting tired of the cinematic universe gimmick. The only superhero movie in recent memory that really made a splash was The Batman, and that was completely its own thing.

I would probably hate a Zelda movie. No offense to anyone here, but I worry that if it is made with Hollywood it would be made for the really lame Zelda fans that take it way too seriously. Trying to make Zelda melodramatic and epic would suck and it would negate a lot of the charm that comes from the smaller and more intimate moments. I think it would be ideal to go for someone like Nippon Animation that can really hit on it being for all ages, but I think if it went live-action or Hollywood it would try too hard to be mature and fall flat.
