they started working on this feature way before they announced the remote raid pass changes. just like how they’ve been working on contests, routes, and adding players from raid lobbies, which people will inevitably say was added as a result of the reactions to the remote raid changes

Whyre you all complaining about it and downvoting? It’s like you just want to complain. Don’t get me wrong I understand that the remote raid passes are shit and niantic keeps fucking up their game but at least appreciate the things that are good. Its a shame to see this community spreading hate for no reason, I enjoy the game still and will likely still play it because my 7 year old nephew does. Think about the bright side for 2 minutes. We’re getting much needed updates.

I actually did make use of this feature yesterday, I think maybe I’m lucky bc I live very close to a college campus with a bunch of gyms close together but it was cool how people saw the little person symbol above the gym and within 30-60 seconds three other people had joined. I appreciate this feature, combined with campfire it makes a lot of sense that they added it. This would have been especially nice for something like the Hoenn tour where there were tons of people on campus walking around and doing raids.
I did see this in action today, a raid at a gym had a person icon above it. Surprised me! I had no idea it was happening

There should be an option to invite local players (not just friends) to a raid. Just an open invite sent to all players nearby (say 500meters) that comes up as a half screen pop up that you can cancel out of easily as to not be an annoying notification.
My context on this is that I live in a small town and would benefit GREATLY from a feature like this. I can see how it could be overdone in cities however, in that case a different type of invite could be used, maybe one that makes the poke/raid box on the bottom right flash yellow or something when an invite is received

This is a nice feature for all the spoofers out there. For the rest it’s just a gimmick to give false hope.
I don’t know about you guys but for me pokemon go shows raids that are also just too far away to make it there in the 2 minutes before the raid starts. Plus if I saw a raid with 3 people already in the lobby, chances are that I don’t even have the full 2 minutes to get to the raid, even if it’s a pokemon I want. So this feature is pointless at best and infuriating at worst.
I do beleive that they call it as planned. Niantec president Giovanni needs cashflow since rocket broke up.
Even if you see people at a raid, they’ll be done with it by the time you get there 🤷🏻♂️
