Week 105, Mario Movie is still setting records. Will the record ever stay unbroken?

First Pikachu, then Sonic and now Mario is getting major Ws

Disney sucks these days. Just pumping out mediocre content and remakes/reboots of their classic works. Pixar is what Disney should be right now. I hope this is the Nintendo era and we get a bunch if great movies out of this.

  4. That’s cool and seems reasonable.

I think some people kept saying $65-70 million. Was that too optimistic?

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Here’s to hoping wario and waluigi show up in the next movie! Though I imagine and pray that the next movie will focus on yoshi overcoming his mpreg fetish and finding Jesus. Did you know I took my kids to see this movie and they loved it?! I wuvved the part where they referenced the bideo games! I hope dey make da supah smash bwuddohs movie soon and merciwesswy execute da cwitics who gabe mawio wess dan a 5/10 scowe pubwicawwy 🥰🥰🥰

This movie might actually reach $1B!

Talk about a big ol’ W for both Nintendo and Illumination!

  7. I think the actual numbers will be over $60 million. Early predictions have been lower.

I just hope this W won’t go to Nintendo’s head and pull a Disney on us.

Pretty sure Miyamoto will protect this IP like his babies

I’m going for a second time with my son tomorrow, can’t wait!

Praying this leads to some Nintendo cinematic universe

I liked it. I thought it had a ton of Easter eggs in it and you could watch it a few times just trying to find them all.

But I felt like the pace was way too fast. I know it’s just a cartoon but I felt like could have developed characters a little bit better.

I’m guessing they wanted it to come in at that hour and a half mark. Which really sped the movie up.

I will definitely watch it again when it comes out on dvd and I will definitely watch any more that come out in the future. I just feel like they could have developed the characters a bit better.

It was just released this weekend in PH. The cinema was full and this is unusual in our country this 2023

If that holds, or is actually higher, that’s insane.

I liked it. It was lighthearted and fun like a mario game. I had no problem with anything in the movie at all.

It’s called *The Super Mario Bros. Movie*, not *Super Mario Bros.*. *Super Mario Bros.* is the live-action movie from 1993.

  16. Grazuzer

Honestly the movie is packed with Nintendo references and very enjoyable to watch, it’s well deserved

I hope studio execs understand why the movie is doing so well. Yeah, it’s a Mario movie, but the story, action, humor, and film references make this such a fun and phenomenal film. I’ve got tickets to see it again this weekend.

I loved it. My kid loved it. My only complaint was they let Mario have all of his most popular power ups (even though the cape was a gag) except for the fire flower. Even DK got it.

I really didn’t think it was that good at all. It had some nice visuals, but the jokes just didn’t land for me. I was super pumped to see it, too.

  20. It was way better than friggen sonic. It was pretty good in the theater, I’ll have to rewatch it to see how it holds up as far as rewatch-ability!

So awesome. I’m so glad to see an animation, that deeply respected its source material, do exceedingly well in the box office.

I still can’t believe how well they wove together all the narratives of all the iterations of Mario games, into one cohesive universe! All that with a superb score to boot!
