I love every Zelda game on the N64 through the Wii. I haven’t played many of the classic NES titles or ones on gameboy/ds yet so I can’t say how I feel about them. But I just could not get into BOTW.
Like, it’s beautiful and kind of fun to explore. But I don’t like the way the powers were implemented into the gameplay, and I really did not enjoy the “temples” I went through.
To me the game felt like an elaborate tech demo of gameplay concepts, and it seems the sequel is doubling down on that. I don’t get excited when I see complicated crafting mechanics.
All that said I’m honestly glad so many people are having fun with it. It’s obviously not made for me and that’s okay. I’ve got the old games and there are plenty of other games out there that I enjoy.
