Sadly it’s one of the few announcements I personally cared for. Super psyched about this, but it feel like they pretty much gave up on 2018.

The original Luigi’s Mansion always felt like Resident Evil meets Scooby-Doo to me, it was awesome. The sequel was also good but really detoured from that style, so personally I hope this third game is more like the first. More than anything I need something to play on the Switch so I’m happy
Is this what Next Level Games have been working on the whole time since Federation Force? Either way, I hope they don’t do the whole, “complete missions in five different mansions” like they did for the 3DS one and just stay in the one building.

I hope it’s the Luigi’s Mansion sequel we deserve. It looked so good in the trailer, I’m so excited to play a proper Luigi’s Mansion game in HD and with HD rumble.

No one expected this nor for it to be dropped first. Also co-op in the remake of the original.
Negatives: This game seems to carry over a lot of Dark Moon’s flaws, including its clunkier controls, slower-paced combat, and uninspired ghost desgns

By far the best announcement of the direct for me. The original is one of my favorite games ever ( I loved the sequel too). Can’t believe we’re getting this and a remake!
I hope they keep the structure of the first game with this one. I don’t like dark moon’s artstyle or mission structure, but I really don’t care about the style if they make it like the first game.
So excited! Just really hope it’s returning to its roots by being a bit darker than the much more child-friendly 3DS game.
I am concerned. It looks to be more inspired by Dark Moon which means the absence of Portrait Ghosts
Please be more like the original than dark moon. I liked dark moon but the original just had me more invested in my actions in the game.

TIL there was a Luigi’s Mansion 2.
Wonder what the hook is for this one. The first was straight forward, one mansion kinda thing. Then the second was several mansions with their own themes. Wonder what this one has up its sleeves.
And now I realize how out of the loop homelessness has made me. I only knew of the original, no idea there was a sequel

The plunger launcher is a new ability in this game, but we got a preview of it in the Castlevania Smash Bros. trailer.
EDIT: Actually it appears that the entire Poltergust design in that trailer was taken from Luigi’s Mansion 3.

Thought it was just the 3DS port because it looked like a 3DS port.
I really hope they bring back human ghosts like in the first one.
Hope they go for a bit more realism in terms of the scenery like the first did. There was something so unique and almost spooky about the contrast of the kid-friendly Luigi in a realistic abandoned Victorian manor.
Couldn’t be more excited, but I honestly hope that they ditched the mission structure of Dark Moon.

I’m very excited about this. I loved the first game, and the second was amazing. I’ve been hoping for a third title in the series. I’m just a bit sorry for Luigi, he must have some major PTSD by now…

Awesome. The original is still one of my favorite games of all time.
The first Luigi’s Mansion game was my childhood! I remember beating King Boo for the first time, I was so happy!
I’m kinda disappointed that they’re still going with the same overhead style. I’ve felt for a while that it would be neat if, in the way Luigi’s Mansion was kind of Nintendo’s version of Resident Evil 1, a Luigi’s Mansion sequel did the same with Resident Evil 4. The vacuum/flashlight mechanics would translate well to the over the shoulder camera and dual analog controls, and Luigi could venture beyond the mansion into other environments inspired by RE4 like haunted woods, haunted mines, a haunted village, and a haunted castle.
Still, nice to see that the series is alive and well.
“The story begins with Mario and Friends get a mysterious card in the mail, Inviting them to an all inclusive paid stay at a top of the line resort! Excited, they all immediately start packing their bags wondering what awaits them at the resort, all having their own little fantasies. Mario kicking back by the pool with Princess Peach, Toad grooving it up at the Club on the dance floor, Princess Peach dreaming of eating all the different types of cake, and Luigi meeting the love of his life, and watching the sunset on the top level of the hotel on a balcony.
A mysterious bus arrives, and they hurry out the door, as they are about to board, Luigi realizes that he forgot his swim trunks, and runs quickly back inside to grab them. As he briskly walks back out, Luigi notices he can see through the Bus Driver! “A ghost” Luigi screams!
Luigi reaches for his Poltergeist 3000 that had been collecting dust right next to the front door, inside of the house, and races towards the bus to catch the ghost and save his friends. Surprisingly the Bus Driver isn’t afraid, grinning with a devilish smile ear to ear, and as Luigi attempts to suck him into the Poltergeist 3000, it has no effect. The Bus driver laughs, and then shoots fireballs from his hand sending luigi flying, and destroying the Poltergeist 3000 luigi loved.
Luigi stunned watches as a portal opens in front of the bus, and the Bus Driver, again with that devilish grin laughs and takes off! Mario, Toad, and Peach taken hostage along with him.
Luigi, determined to find and save his friends, goes to Professor E. Gadd’s place to get the Poltergeist 3000 fixed up, and to find the mysterious resort his freinds went off too.”
That’s my guess as to what will happen with the story and intro! Especially since you see Toad, Luigi, Mario, and Peach’s portrait in the Hotel crossed off with an X!
I really really hope they take the original as a foundation and develop that further.
I mostly enjoyed dark moon on the 3DS. It’s a good game but to me it didn’t feel as good as the original one. I disliked the mission structure, smaller scope and having to go to levels over and over again.
