I remember seeing that prototype and being dismayed at the lack of a D pad. Glad nintendo improved the design.

I remember seeing this prototype at the convention – final product was way better but this was super innovative to me coming from the n64 – which was not built for human hands.

Imo, the best prototype/version of the controller which should have made it to the final design. Superior B button, cool rounded pause button.

I remember that gamecube with the disc drive window and the bean shaped B button, but not the lack of d pad and weird menu button.
