If it’s a hundo then sure. I max my hundos especially if they’re mega
OUTheMovie
Its worth it if you want a high IV gyarados and mega gyarados
housevil
A mega evolution is only temporary, right? I wouldn’t do it unless I had some battles planned.
9DAN2
Absolutely.
Quite an easy one to farm the xl candy by walking. Iv maxed out a 96 and almost maxed out a 3 star shadow too
TheTrevorist
If you don’t already have a better water mega like swampert, sure.
Hyeheh
Yes
DrThoss
There is a requirement at level 47 to max out 3 pokemon. If you’re close to that you might want to power it up but not quite all the way
elfprince13
Yep. Easiest useful pokemon to max
trainbrain27
You have the candy, if you can spare the dust, there’s nothing better to max than a hundo (except a lucky hundo).
Potential reasons against: stardust cost, saving candy to evolve a karp, pvp league requirements: hundos aren’t for UL, but ML Classic has a level 40 cap (no XL)
I have a maximum maximally mega Gyarados for raids. The mega loses Flying for Dark, which means it can really whale on rocks without weakness, but does add in a bunch of others.

You tagged it “bois” even tough it’s a female 🤔
Familiar-Kangaroo298
Even if you have other powered up water types, having more then one can be worth it for raids.

I would only level to lvl 49. There’s a requirement for one of the later 40s to max out Pokemon.
Chandeliercrown
I maxed my hundo mega Gyrados, no regrets 🙂

Mega Gyarados is 10th place in dual ability with about 73% of max damage. The only other water types in the top 10 R Primal Kyogre at #1 and Mega Swampert at #6.
Mountain_Seesaw_9448
1000% yes imo. Dust comes and goes but a maxed hundo is forever
xXslik_360Xx
Do it
OhThereYouArePeter69
Omg yes. Do it and make it your best buddy ❤️
BroskyJones
Do it. You know you want to.
Kaishiteru
Yes, because hundo. And yes, because mega. But you’re gonna be dirt poor afterwards.
fishboiiiiiiiiii

I have 3 Gyarados at level 50 and they are all being used as Megas. Each one has a different purpose/move sets.
Water typing maybe is the strongest for Gyarados but I distinctly have all 3 because I can’t be bothered to keep changing Gyarados’ move sets. Mostly I can’t remember or want to remember when to change things. Just easier to know I have 3.
But you since you don’t have a lot of stardust definitely level up as best you can but Gyarados water typing is likely best for you.
PSA69Charizard
I have 4 level 50 Gyarados’ (two are shadow) and while I like them, they are rarely used. But I appreciate thrm when they are useful.
Probably doesn’t matter if you max it and also depends on if you have better stuff.
glannalg
Yes definitely. I’m currently on my third mega Gyarados build too because I realised it can have a full dark movesets and is one of the best dark Megas out at the moment. (I think it might be the best until Tyranitar comes out).

Dragon – Dragon Tail/Outrage (Requires Elite TM)
Water – Waterfall/Hydro Pump
Dark – Bite/Crunch
