I guess it was obvious, this game didn’t land like Tetris or Mario 35. I think I played it like 3 times and that was it, it’s not a bad game though it was definitely fun but it just didn’t hit as hard as the others
At the end of the day Nintendo should stop fucking around and bring back Mario 35….it was so simple yet so much fun.
Ok
Didn’t even hear about Pac-Man 99. Tetris and Mario were both very fun games, it’s a shame Nintendo won’t keep them available.
I’m sure it’s both lack of interest and licensing behind this cancellation. I hope that Nintendo will replace this by bringing back Super Mario Bros. 35 or my dream game, Planet Puzzle League 99!
Aw man that was actually a great game
I didn’t have a Switch during SMB35’s run, but I preferred Pac-Man 99 over Tetris 99. But T99 still fills matches quickly and in Pac99 it always needs to fill with CPUs, so not surprising.
Hopefully something cool like Galaga 99 or Space Invaders 99 will replace it.
They kept this turd around longer than the awesome Mario game 😢
I’m dreaming of a Sega / Nintendo mashup of ChuChu Rocket.
DLC for offline mode worth it or are there better PAC MAN games on Switch? Thank you!
There’s been a lot of these attempts at 99, Bomberman, Puyo Puyo, Tetris, Mario… not all of them will be winners.
This game had really bad balancing issues. Not sure if they ever changed it, but the best way to play the game is to essentially sit in the corner of the maze for a while after gaining some levels.
It was god awfully boring. Comparing to Mario 35 and Tetris 99, those games had a lot more going on for them.
Hopefully they replace it with something else. That is one less thing to add any “value” to NSO.
Completely forgot about this
I haven’t played this game in a year and half or so but I was super into it when it came out and for a while after that. Nothing beats getting top 10 and hearing that super fast, frenetic top 10 music and then dodging and eating tons of enemy ghosts before you drop your own ghost nuclear bomb on whoever is in first place. Then going 1v1 to end it and winning right when it seemed like you were finally getting trapped and were about to die. Pure adrenaline rush and was super satisfying to last all the way to Pac-One!
Forgot it existed lmao
The red Pac-Mans that can kill you made this game an eyesore and a chore to play. Not surprised its going down since it likely just didn’t appeal to a lot of people.
Nintendo is so anti-consumer it’s disgusting. Best dev, worst publisher.
Eh, expected. Tetris 99 and Mario 35 were a lot more fun, Pac Man was…ok.
Damn I had no idea this was a thing. Do you need like the premium online or can I play it with basic?
If premium only how much is it? Or can I not buy it and I need to upgrade? Definitely want to at least try this
It’s always unfortunate when freebies like these go away, especially if they’re so focused on online so they pretty much become useless. Makes me kinda worry that one day they may come for Tetris99 too…
Unfortunate to see but these are tough games to retain if the player base diminishes
Between this, Tetris 99, and Mario 35, Pac-Man 99 is by far my favorite. I still play it regularly, so this is pretty disappointing to me. Though, it did always seem like it was the least popular, with a lot of the players being bots it seems nowadays.
I stopped playing after they announced the closure of Mario 35.
Oh this sucks. I really enjoy Pac-Man 99 and I’m pretty good at it. I’m going to miss it
They’re making way for the next subscriber online software: Pokemon Red 999.
999 players controlling one character, no democracy.
It makes sense. When I played earlier this year, half of every lobby wiped out at the same time every time. It makes me think they were filled with bots.
How much does it cost to keep servers running?
Sad to see it go, but as much as I loved Pac Man, I haven’t touched it in years. Makes sense to cut it short like Mario 35.
I haven’t played this quite a while but I did enjoy it when I did. Might have to hit it hard over the summer now before it’s gone.
Wow, sad, I liked this one…
Oh yeah I forgot about that game entirely.
Just can’t do anything as cool as Tetris.
Was terrible at it but I cant imagine it costs THAT much to run the servers…they are reducing the value of NSO by eliminating a game you play on it.
